Almost Heaven West Virginia….

100_1461

I really miss my sister and her family in West Virginia.  This is another shot of the bridge that crosses the Ohio River from Kentucky to Ohio.  Actually my sister lives about 2 blocks from Kentucky.

I haven’t seen my sister since I moved here in 2010.  There have been many attempts for us to get together but it has been one health reason (on both sides) after another that has stopped us.  I still have hope that we can get together after her husband finishes his treatment for cancer.  My brother in law is doing well with his treatment.

Sandie did a blog last night with an update.  She is doing well and was given the assurance that the doctors had removed all of her cancer.  Thank you God!  Sandie, you remain in my prayers!

My neighbor Debbie is improving.  Her husband went to work yesterday and I checked in on her several times.  I even made her some cooked pudding which she seemed to like.

We are under storm warnings here today.  It is very warm and humid.  The weather radio woke me up several times in the night with watches.  Right now it is drizzling rain and the skies are dark.

I hope it is sunny where you are today.  Stay safe and be happy!!

The day after….

Weather wise it was  a nice day.  The forecasted storms did not materialize and for that I was thankful.  Since the tornado on Sunday November 17, 2013 I am actually on edge when it is a Sunday and severe storms are forecast.  I don’t think that I will ever get over that.

Storms are predicted off and on for the whole week.  It is predicted to be in the 90s, hot and humid with heat index in the 100s.  After last winter I am not complaining, just cranking up the air conditioner a notch and paying a higher utility bill.

My sis in West Virginia took some photos for me yesterday as she was on her way to the Kroger store.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have this kind of scenery close by your home?  The bridge you see is the bridge crossing the Ohio River from Kentucky into Ohio.  Where my sis lives in West Virginia she can put one arm in Kentucky, one arm in Ohio and stand with her feet planted in West Virginia.  Her city is Ken Kentucky) o (Ohio) va.  Kenova.

Kenova is a city in Wayne County, West Virginia, at the confluence of the Ohio and Big Sandy Rivers. The name of the town comes from its unique position where the borders of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia meet. Wikipedia

I have several more pics she took for me that I will be showing later.

Have a peaceful week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Good Fences # 6

Ed's fence in WV

from rae

My sister in West Virginia took these ‘fence’ photos for me while out walking this week.    The fence is in front of her neighbor Ed’s home.  Thanks Rae!  Tell Ed he (his fence) is now a celebrity!

I am linking to Theresa at Good Fences.

Peaceful Sunday…

It is a bright sunshiny day starting at 12 degrees right now so the snow is still there.  I got my car all cleaned off all ready for the next round of freezing rain and snow which is to start Monday night.  First freezing rain and then snow through Thursday.  It seems like we are having all of our winter in February.

Yesterday was a boring day,  I fixed fettuccine with Alfredo sauce from a jar.  It wasn’t bad but not satisfying.  Seems like nothing I am cooking is satisfying anymore except for the big turkey meal we had last Sunday.  Leftover fettuccine for me today I guess.  Still have some banana bread though.

I have to go out in the cold after a bit to go to the pharmacy to pick up a couple of prescriptions.  I noticed the car has a very nice layer of frost on it this morning so I will have to warm up the car and do some scraping.  I think it is only 23 days until spring so I am hanging in there.

I hope it is warm and sunny where you are because I am coming to visit you.  Note to relatives in Wisconsin: your weather is worse than mine so I am not coming to visit you.  lol  Note to relatives in Florida:  How come  I never get an invitation to visit you??  Note to sis and BIL in West Virginia:  You just told me on the phone that it was 37.4 degrees there.  That is a lot warmer than 12 degrees so get the cake baking.

Have a truly blessed day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Sandy brought snow…

to my sis in WV.  The schools are closed there this morning as so many of the kids live in the hills that it is impossible for the buses to run.  There is also a  lot of snow in the mountains.  Charleston WV is without power and my nephew who is an attorney at the capitol building is home today.  Thankfully there is no snow here but the winds are to to be sustained at 30 –35 MPH this afternoon.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of those on the east coast affected by the hurricane.

I am getting ready today to clean out my CD collection and take them to Goodwill.  I have hundreds of CDs.  I will keep George Jones and Willie Nelson and a choice few.  The rest will go.  Perhaps I will have a giveaway here from my blog.  Just become a follower and comment stating that you would like to be entered in the CD giveaway package of 6 CDS.  I love all kinds of music so I have some of everything.  Just let me know if you are interested and I will make it happen.  If no interest then Goodwill will be the recipient.

I hope you all have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!
