6 more weeks of winter…

But then I already knew that.  Today the sun is shining brightly and our local groundhog Gertie in Peoria saw her shadow.  This means 6 more weeks of winter.  It is 8 degrees here this morning with the sunshine glistening on the snow.  It is 46 more days till Spring.  We have more snow to come on Tuesday.

I did go out and get my car cleaned off yesterday.  The snow weighed a ton and was hard for me to lift a shovel full.  The snow that was packed against my tires I just pushed back on the sidewalk.  I wonder each time I go out to clean the snow off my car if it will be the last time.  I hate to admit it but I think I am getting too old for this.

I am just about to finish the Lisa Jackson book I am reading.  It is a page turner and I didn’t want to put it down to go to bed.  I was sitting here reading last night about 10:15 when my doorbell rang.  I think I jumped a foot.  It was only a couple of weeks ago that I received a call from the police station informing me that a registered sex offender had moved into our neighborhood.  The police do call all of the people in the neighborhood  to give them a heads up.  They give you the name, address and description of the offender.

Fortunately for me it was a delivery from a pizza place for my new neighbors.  How can can anyone eat pizza at 10:30 at night?  And then I remembered it is a young couple in their 20s.  When I was that age I could eat pizza late at night too!  Oh to be young again!!

Is everyone all geared up for the Super Bowl??  I am not a football fan but my husband sure was right from the days he played football in high school.  I must admit  that I admire the uniforms that the football players wear though.  I only like sports that I really understand like baseball featuring my beloved St. Louis Cardinals and basketball featuring my beloved ILLINI who are not doing so well right now.

Have a wonderful day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Good Morning Sunshine…

Well, it is partly sunny.  I see the sun peeking out from behind the clouds  once in awhile.   The temp is to reach 38 degrees today.

I did not want to get up this morning.  One of those mornings when I really had to force myself to get up.  At least it is getting light a little bit earlier each morning.  That will change on March 10th when we go on daylight savings time.  I am not a fan of daylight savings time as I can see no point in wanting it to stay light out until  9 PM.  Now when I was young it was a different story.

I saw the tax accountant yesterday and dropped my pile of stuff in his hands.  He sends a question form for us to fill out each year.  I didn’t fill it out this year.  He charges way enough money that I figured he could do that himself.  I don’t have all of the stuff to contend with like I did before I sold my house and I could probably do it myself in a few minutes if I wasn’t so lazy.

Because of the power outage  (thanks Beyonce) my DVR recorded an hour of the Super Bowl instead of Elementary which is one of my favorite new shows.  Rather aggravating!

I need to get a move on as I have an appointment for a hair cut this morning.  Fingers crossed!!

I hope you all have a great week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

44

days to go on the countdown to Spring.  It is beyond gorgeous out today with bright sunshine and 37 degrees.  Just a lovely day to be alive.  I have been out in the sunshine and ventured to the 24 hour Walgreens where they are always busy and call me Mrs. D.

There is hardly any breeze right now and if that continues to be so I am taking a walk in the cemetery after lunch.  I have been asked so many times if it bothers me, living across from a cemetery.  The answer is NO, not at all.  We need to be aware of the living, the dead can’t hurt us.  It is so peaceful walking there.  It is a huge cemetery and I have only covered a small portion of it.  Some of the stones are awesome and some of them tell a sad story.

This is Super Bowl Sunday.  I am not into football.  Jim tried many times through the years to educate me.  lol  He was such a football fan as he played football and lettered in it all 4 years in high school.  I understand nothing about it.  I do watch part of it for the commercials and I will admit some of the players are hunks.  I will be cheering for Boston Boy’s team.  I hope that doesn’t jinx them.

Not much on the agenda today.  No family cooking as I have to watch what I eat for today and tomorrow until I have the stress test done on Tuesday.  Then Wednesday is a dental appointment.  YUCK!!!

I hope you are all having a good day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

28 Degrees and what else?

Why it is snowing of course. My car that was all cleaned off yesterday looks like a giant snowball. Some days are diamonds, some days are stones. I left little bitty size 6 & 1/2 footprints in the snow going back and forth to the laundry room. I wanted to get it all done before I go out after while to clean off my car.

My legs and arms are still letting me know that I shoveled snow for a nice period of time on Friday when my daughter helped me to clean off my car. Last winter I shoveled just about every day but I guess I am out of practice.

Is everyone all set for the super bowl? I am not a fan but I hope the Packers win for my friends from Wisconsin. I don’t even have any snacks here but I have got lots of Bones episodes on the DVR to keep me busy. Plus I have downloaded several books on my Nook. I really do like the Nook, but there is one major thing I don’t like about it. I confess to always reading the last few pages of a book first and I like turning back a page or two in case I missed something. That is a lot of bother to do on a Nook. So here I am reading this chilling murder mystery and I don’t know who dunnit. Very frustrating.

I am fixing a roast for today. YES!! I am cooking something again, in fact I have been cooking a lot more lately instead of eating so many TV dinners. I have several containers of chili in the freezer. I think veg/beef soup is next.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day. Please do not OD on Nachos and cheese dip.
