Here I am…

late again.  No reason, just slept late.

It is another dreary, chilly day here.  Only 51 degrees.  I don’t even have the desire to venture out for some reason.   Tomorrow I have to get out and run some errands.  And soon I will have to decide on a TV as mine is taking longer each day to come on.

It was  very sad in this city the past week.  http://www.sj-r.com/archive/x272268591/Pekin-turns-out-for-return-of-Army-sergeant-killed-in-Afghanistan  We lost another young man in Afghanistan.  The city is blanketed with hundreds of flags.  The visitation is this afternoon and the funeral is tomorrow morning.  Makes me cry.  I hate war! I have lived through way too many of them.  I pray every day for peace on earth.  My heart goes out to this young man’s family.

Just a short post today, checking in with you all, reminding you to stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Rainy chilly here too and I am not going out either. So sad to hear about another fallen soldier. Why do country's want to rule the world? If women ran the world things would be peaceful you think?

  3. Rain moving in for tonight here. At least it was sunny today, which helps keep the spirits bright and sunny too. Have a good week Beth.

  4. You're absolutely right; we've lost far too many young men and women to war. Maybe if we forced the politicians who start them to go and fight on the front lines there would be an end to it.

  5. So many die, so many spirits die. So many are never the same again. War is bad. Yes, there have been times it was a necessary evil, but wars for the past 50 years are not in that category. Peace....will there ever be true peace? I, too, pray for peace.

  9. Deaths now, in Stan... are unconscionable. This war is now being fought "on a time line." "We leave on such-and-such a date." Impossible! Un-heard of! This Administration should be ashamed of themselves!

  10. The cold from our last snap is lingering though it did seem to break leaving us with a clear sky...only forty-two degrees at the moment. I despise the war we find ourselves fighting now as well. I get the feeling that the more things change with that the more they stay the same. Where is all the high ideals held during campaigning concerning the ending of the war...I don't mean no longer talking about it or calling new wars something else...I mean a real end to it?

  12. I am so sick of wars and dying and fighting, too. All over the earth we do this. So sad.

We have a bit of sun today after three days of rain. A welcome sight. Been reading on the porch again. Ahhh! I hope some sun comes your way, too. :)

  13. I slept late today as well. For me that's 7am. By the way the song "Never ending love song for you" was written by the guy in the pictures I posted yesterday. Not Eric, but Delaney Bramlett.
Locally we had a young man come home from Afghanistan only to be shot dead in his home town. I'm afraid war will never go away.
