this morning with my daughter and son in law. A very nice buffet. I tried not to eat to much even though it was tempting.
Yesterday was a busy day. My daughter and I went to Farm and Fleet and did a bit of Christmas shopping. They have a very good selection of baking items too, pecans, walnuts, baking chips, marshmallow cream all at a very good price. Walnuts at $5.99 a lb. and pecans at $7.99 a lb. All ready for Christmas baking.
I took a walk over to the cemetery yesterday afternoon. There is still one beautiful tree over there with the leaves a lovely color of dark red. The grass is green in the cemetery. The last time I walked there the grass was dry and crunchy. We have had quite a lot of rain this fall and are closing the rain deficit caused by the drought.
I guess I will call this the last pretty tree of the season. Notice the green grass in the picture below. Taken 8 Nov 2012.
I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Sis..lots of green grass here but most of the trees are pretty bare. That tree is lovely..so nice and full.Never would think to go to a Farm store for baking goods. We have a tractor supply store here I will have to check out. Hope your weekend is warm like here..I love it!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful breakfast and shopping trip. I hope you are feeling well. No leaves left on any of the trees here yet. Fall is moving way too fast- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLove that beautiful red tree! Our colors are quite blah this year---still a lot of green here and some yellows, but the brilliant colors you have. I guess it's just not cold enough yet to "finish" off the colors. Still a lot of leaves on the trees too. Have a great day and drag out those holiday recipes! Christmas is just around the corner...
ReplyDeleteFarm & Fleet have great prices on some of their food items. They use to sell dark chocolate star bags of candy but I haven't seen them there in a long time. That was the only place I've ever found them too. Sigh, I loved them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Beth.
Oh I do enjoy a shopping trip for baking goods for Christmas. I'll just enjoy yours vicariously as I don't plan to make that trip this year. What a gorgeous red tree. (Oh my, it's unlikely that I'll ever be in Illinois again, though my sister is traveling through today. It's equally unlikely that I'll ever be in Texas again. =) Hope, though, that you do have meets with as many of your blogging buddies as you can!)
ReplyDeletethat tree is beautiful!
ReplyDeletei sure wish we had fleet farms down here. i miss them from up north.
I love Farm & Fleet. I think even their clothes are nice. Have bought my last 3 winter coats there. That is a beautiful tree. Trees here are pretty bare but the grass is still green. Now of that nasty white stuff covering it.
ReplyDeleteWow, that tree is gorgeous! I love it. Have a nice weekend, Beth. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, man! What a bargain on walnuts and pecans! I wish I could have been there, too! Not only that, breakfast at the riverboat sounds absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a good Saturday!
xo Nellie
You showed restraint even at a buffet? I admire your will! I've not had normal tastes since picking up the flu this week but I'm sure that won't last. You're pictures are far different than what I'm seeing here too...plenty of snow and cold for us now. I'd rather have a beautiful tree like that to look at!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteAwesome tree. Hope you have a good week, I am busy busy, thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers, I am excited, but a little stressed too. :)
Hugs Nita
Beautiful pictures and that red tree.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful red fall tree!!
ReplyDeletePretty tree...and our grass is still green, too. Not the pretty green of summer but green, just the same. :))
ReplyDeleteYour tree is beautiful. Your grass is about as green as ours, only you live farther south where it's usually dryer.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what kind of tree that is? My bottom jaw hit the floor when I saw it. I have NEVER in my life seen anything like that. Our leaves here just turn yellow or brown. dull. and sad. Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine paying $7.99 for pecans. We just pick 'em up off the street here. Are they shelled already?
Yes, they are shelled pecan halves. Believe me when I say that $7.99 a lb. is cheap here.
DeleteOh that tree is beautiful. We don't have a single leaf left on any trees here.
ReplyDeleteThat tree is just stunning! We have gotten days of drizzly rain late in the year here, too, after it being so dry. But it is not as green as where you are. Enjoy your Sunday! :)
ReplyDeleteThat tree is gorgeous! So glad you shared it!
ReplyDeleteI love the tree. And that you shared it with us. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe buffet sounds wonderful! Hugs.

Lovely tree, we have a few here coloured like it, but they are usually in people's gardens obviously bought for the foliage, I think they are probably Sycamores.
