http://www.realfood4realpeople.com/convert.html

Above is the link for conversion charts for our oven temps as opposed to England and Australia.  This is in answer to questions I received from England and Australian friends.  In answer to one question the c in my recipe stands for cup, thus, 1 c sugar equals 1 cup of sugar.  If you don’t have cornmeal in England or Australia but have corn flour you might Google and see if there is a recipe for corn bread using corn flour.  Since Illinois is famous for growing corn there is no shortage of cornmeal here.  Winking smile

Has anyone noticed that Live Writer is being ornery today?  It will not let you put in a title and throws up categories that you may use or you may add one which is what I did.  I prefer to make up my own title, thank you very much live writer.

I got another turkey at the Food Depot on Wednesday.  It was 39 cents a pound with no minimum purchase.  Since I had already squeezed that other turkey in the freezer I had no choice but to put this one in the fridge to unthaw.  So, I have a 14 pound turkey cooking in the oven right now.  I am trying to make things a bit easier for my daughter.  This morning she took Mike for his first therapy session since coming home from the hospital.  Has anyone tried the different potato sides that  you can buy in the store now?  Bob Evans has a good mashed potato side as does Kroger in their version.  Am I getting lazy in my old age?  Nah, just trying to make things a bit easier.  Anyway, tomorrow I will cart stuff to eat over to my daughter’s house.

I had thought to clean today but I am having trouble getting in the mood.  I will do it this afternoon though, I promise myself.

I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.  Be happy!!

Red heart  Beth

  1. No, you're not getting lazy, lol. I do the same thing and it was only "yesterday" that I swore I would never buy pre-prepared or frozen or whatever foods. I used to make everything from scratch until about 3 yrs ago. From Scratch is still the best (hmmm, maybe only because I was used to it) but I don't want to spend days in the kitchen anymore --HA, like I have so much ELSE to do in my social life ;) I still don't like canned things other than tomatoes for cooking, but at least I don't have strands of pasta hanging all over the place anymore. The darn boxed kind is great!

  5. I'm good at not being in the mood to clean. Today I did some cleaning. Also some baking...make a Coffee Cake. And a wacky cake. While the oven was going put in a meatloaf. Now I won't have to cook much for 2 or 3 days.

  6. I've never baked much though once I baked what was a perfect looking loaf of scala bread. Unfortunately it was inedible and the only thing it was good for was hammering nails or for self defence. I swear it gained weight in the oven!

  7. I used the new version of live writer today and didn't have any problems or even see the stuff you did. Hmmm...makes ya wonder huh?

Good deal on the turkey. I would have bought another one too. Jim's favorite food.

  8. Just came by to do some catching up. The snow is finally flying here and it's darn cold out. I have been using google reader to catch up on all your previous posts. I find it so much easier when I get so far behind. Then I can come to the lastest post and comment. Oh your blog on the ham and beans makes me want to make some up. My mom use to make it all the time with ham hocks. Then it has to be served with corn bread. Oh I am making myself so hungry just thinking about it. We are having the last of our summer catch of trout tonight. Hubby's down in the greenhouse now taking a sauna. I just am not a sauna person. Will have dinner down there and watch a good movie. Hope to get blogging soon but wanted to catch up with everyone first. Have a wonderful week. Hugs Carrie

  11. Hi Beth,
It's crazy the way Live Writer is acting, When I first started using it it was fine, but now for WordPress is keeps changing the layout and the Picture I sometimes add....I end up 'publishing' the post about four or five times...BUT I will not let it rule the roost...I want it how I want it...so there.!! ;-)
and no, convenience is best in this day and age...why slave when it's easy to cut corners. Much more interesting stuff to concentrate on...
Thank-you for your comment Beth, always appreciated, and it is so good to hear about Mikes health. Wonderful news.. xPenx

  12. Hi Beth,
You are very kind lady that you were concerned about the word in your recipe, I already check it up with my ex-word it said pretty much same meaning and thank you again.
    Have a great weekend.
