Neither wind nor snow…

nor a real temperature of 8 below zero will stop me from my appointed duty of telling you all that it is only 72 days till Spring.  It is still –8 degrees this morning and the wind chill is way down there.  The snow has drifted several feet high in some places and you can actually see a bare spot of ground here and there.  Our official snow total was 9.4 inches.

I have been stuck in my house for days.  I have cabin fever and all I have done is eat and read.  I think I have gained 5 lbs.  Today I am going to run the sweeper and dust the furniture.  Something to keep me busy.  I am about halfway through the Nora Roberts book.  Next is Janet Evanovich’s ‘Take Down Twenty.’  A Stephanie Plum novel which I should have read by now but I keep saving it because I love the Stephanie Plum stories.

Powerhouse author Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels are “laugh-out-loud funny” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch), “brilliantly evocative” (The Denver Post), and “making trouble and winning hearts” (USA Today).

If it reaches the expected high today of 12 degrees I will go out and see if my car will start.  Cleaning it off will have to wait awhile

Stay warm!  Stay safe and be happy!!

Good Thursday Morning…

I battled the doctor yesterday and I am not sure who won.  Anyway I had one med taken away and a new one to take its place.  I do not have good luck with new meds.  I hope I do better with this one.

It is cool here this morning at 36 to get into the upper 40s.  Not bad for an early December day.
Below is a picture of my little Christmas tree taken this morning.  Sorry I kind of chopped off the top.  I put the book I am reading now in the pic too.  I love Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series.  They are hilarious and always make me smile even when I am feeling sad.

I hope you all have a great day.  I am doing laundry and contemplating doing a bit of cleaning.  I have my cards and packages done and plan to take them to the post office this morning.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Diet Day…

Nothing for me today but Jell-O and broth in preparation for my test tomorrow.  I have orange Jell-O which is all I had on had on hand.  Now, I am not a lover of Jell-O.  My mom used to make the stuff and she would put bananas and marshmallows in it, sometimes drained fruit cocktail.  I was about 6 or 7 when I barfed after eating it.  From then on it was not a favorite of mine.  Jim loved it so I fixed it for him.  I can tolerate it if it is doctored up with good stuff.  Plain, like today, yuck!

I have been to Kroger this morning.  Mostly to get out of the house.  I did purchase Janet Evanovich’s latest book and that old staple that we all can’t live without, TP.  I am old enough to remember outdoor potty houses, just barely, but I can remember them.

On the way home from the store I had a red SUV on my tail all of the way.  The speed limit in town is 30 MPH which is what I was doing.  Followed me all of the way till I was almost home and then he turned.  I say he because I didn’t get a good look at his face and of course we all know that men are the tailgaters instead of women.  lol

It is a beautiful morning, sunny and a bit cooler.  Just a great day to be alive and believe me I have already thanked God for that.

Have a wonderful week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Attention Stephanie Plum/

Janet Evanovich fans.  One for the Money (the movie), the first Stephanie Plum book, starts today at the theater.  My daughter and I are going for the very first showing which is this morning.  I have read all 18 of the Stephanie Plum books.  I will give you all a review when I get home.  So stop by later for an addition to this post.

It is partly sunny and 28 degrees right now.  The temp is to reach 40 degrees again today.  There are 53 days left in the countdown to Spring.

Catch you all later with the movie update.  If you are looking for books to read that will make you laugh out loud you should read this series.  I have noted before that I read One for the Money shortly after Jim died.  I would be sitting there crying and the next minute I would be laughing out loud.  Good therapy.

UPDATE:

The movie was great and very well cast except for Ranger who was not as good looking as I imagined he would be. Joe Morelli was perfectly cast, what a hunk if I do say so myself. lol Grandma Mazur played by Debbie Reynolds was a disappointment I thought she was miscast. I know Roger Ebert would probably give it 1/2 star but I give it 5 *****s. One For the Money ~ Janet Evanovich

Attention Stephanie Plum fans.  Janet Evanovich’s first book in the Plum series is in the process of being made into a movie, estimated to be in theaters on 27 Jan 2012.

I read  my first book in this series (Smokin’ Seventeen has just been released) shortly after Jim died.  I remember that I would be crying while I was reading and then burst out laughing.  Since that time I have read all 17 books.  They are hilarious.  Even though they are grossly over priced I still purchased 16 and 17 for my Nook.  The first 15 I was able to check out through the library at home.

I am just home from getting my hair cut so it is nice and short and spikey again.  Then I had to make a trip by the grocery store again as I forgot the milk yesterday.  I rarely run out of milk because 1/2 gallon does me about 10 days.  This time I did.

A bird has built a nest on the light fixture by the door that leads into our laundry area.  My neighbors are thrilled about this and I will be thrilled with them so long as I don’t get caca dumped on my head as I am going in the door.  After that I will cease to be thrilled.  My new neighbors think it is barn swallows.  I personally think the nest is too small for barn swallows, but then what do I know?

It is the middle of the week for you all that still have to work for a living.  Do take the time to be happy.

Sad News for Beverly Barton Fans…

http://www.timesdaily.com/article/20110423/NEWS/110429921/1011/NEWS?Title=Best-selling-author-Beverly-Barton-dies-

I have said before that I love to read.  I especially love a good murder mystery and there was no better mystery writer than Beverly Barton.  Lisa Jackson ranks right up there with her.  I also like Michael Connelly, John Sanford and Phillip Margolin.   I love Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series.  Her new book is out in June.  I am keeping my Nook full and loving every minute of it.

It is still raining here this morning, dreary and chilly at 50 degrees.  I have to make a pharmacy run, stop by and pay my rent and then on to  the grocery store.  It is a never ending cycle each month.  One of these days the sun is going to shine again and I am looking forward to that.
Monday after the doctor visit my daughter and I stopped by Olive Garden for lunch.  We both had the chicken parmesan.  I had a creamy chicken soup that had dumplings in it.  It was really good.  YUMMM!  First time I had eaten at the Olive Garden in quite a while.  It is out of the way for me to get to.

I guess I had better get moving right now and get started on my errands.  I really hate to go outside in the rain.  I hope the sun is shining wherever you are.
