You oughta be here with me…

as we are having a blizzard.  The wind is gusting and is predicted at times to peak at 50 miles an hour.  The snow is blowing against the window and I don’t dare to venture outdoors.  The temp tonight is to have wind chills of 15 to 20 below zero.  I am stuck here in the house with that awesome peach pie and I guess you all know what that means.  I am cooking too, oven baked steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and corn.  I never cook anymore and Marie Callender and Healthy Choice are the ladies who usually feed me.  Hurry, come save me from myself.  Winking smile

For my friend Paul in Iraq, if you are reading this, I am so glad your mom was able to get a fruit cake to you.  I normally make homemade fruit cake each year which I send to unsuspecting family and friends.  This year for some reason I did not (probably because I have an electric stove here and for 50 years I cooked with gas). I love fruit cake, especially homemade so I think everyone else should too.  Prayers for you Paul and all of our troops all around the world.  Our  blogging family here is praying each day for you all!

I just talked to my sis in WV.  The weather there is one day behind us as they are getting the rain and then some snow to come.  She is busy getting presents ready for several of the special needs kids she works with.  Kudos for you Rae.  I am so proud of you.

I need to close now and check on the steak.  You are all welcome to come and join me.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Believe me, I'd be there in a heartbeat if I could!
Beth, your page looks WONDERFUL! I love the header and the sides' coloring is just perfect with it. Don't you love how everyone is getting into the season now?
Darn it, I keep swallowing. My mouth is still watering over that peach pie. It's raining here and mixed with a little sleet. I was planning on having Mom's Bob over for dinner (Carole's chicken recipe) but now I might change it until tomorrow. I worry too much about him driving in this weather. We'll see a little later on in the day. But until then, when you take a bite of that pie, I want you to feel really guilty.....because it was supposed to be MINE, lol. XOXOXO

  5. I love peach pie with vanilla ice cream and the You're food sounds delish on a snow day. We're just having flurries as usual, from one extreme to the other, it seems on the weather. Be safe and warm.

  9. Hope I'm not too late in rescuing you from all that yummy food. I haven't had good fruitcake in years...although some people say there's no such thing as good fruitcake. Ha !

    Have a good Monday Beth.

  10. I, too, LOVE fruitcake! When I make it, I use my old carrot cake recipe and add the candied fruit, nuts and such! I bake it in an old tube pan. I also HAVE to make a pecan pie at least once a year for my man! It's traditional.
