A bright star has gone to become a star in the sky…

Elizabeth-Taylor_0

I was extremely saddened this morning to read of the death of Elizabeth Taylor, one of my favorite actresses.  http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/2011/03/elizabeth_taylo_1.php

She was a classy lady who lived a troubled life, including 8 marriages, that is beyond my imagination.  Be that as it may, I admired her as much for her humanitarian work as I did for her acting.  Her work for the AIDS cause was remarkable.  May she rest in peace.

I survived the visit to the dermatologist yesterday.  Let me take this opportunity again to remind you all to use sun screen.  The sun on your unprotected skin is a killer.

I was up early this morning.  I have laundry to do, I have to stop by the pharmacy and I have to get my hair cut this afternoon.  It is a lovely morning, the birds are singing and the sun is shining.  Friday could be a different story with snow/rain.  But at least spring is here and that gladdens my heart.

I am home from the pharmacy, laundry is done and I am waiting for the trip to the beautician who has her work cut out for her.

Tomorrow is another doctor day which I happen to be getting tired of.

Best stop now while I am ahead.  You all stay safe and be happy.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Sadly such a bright star is gone. Her beauty knew no equal but her acting far outshone that.
Whew! Your are busy today. Time for a coffee break. Don't much care for doctors either but they are necessary.

  2. I saw that in the paper and I am so sorry for it. All of the Hollywood greats are gone, or near to it. She was one in a million. I will miss knowing she was there and is gone forever now.

Someone in the church family passed on so I have been out gathering drinks like Coke, Sprite and so on, for a family only gathering of 50 people before the arrangements are announced. I volunteered for that as my cooking is, shall we say, unique. :-)

  3. Well we did have sun, but the storm blew in and we got 8 inches of snow last night and it is still snowing. Waiting to get our drive plowed out, I was going to go into town today but will probably wait until tomorrow. Enjoy your day.

Hope your Doctor visits go well. They are a necessary evil aren't they?! And I promise to keep wearing sunscreen :)

  6. Hello Beth, Happy Spring to you. So sad news to hear the loss of such an icon of a person as Elisabeth Taylor was. I am still here at the Salton Sea. Life has been so busy here and lots of company. Haven't had time for the internet. Am out doing landscaping now that all the company has finally gone. Forgot how much I have enjoyed planting and creating new landscapes. This is all desert so a great contrast from up North. Have to install underground watering to everything. Picked up a slight internet connection at our house. Very very slow and unrealiable. Haven't blogged any just trying to get around and see everyone a few a day. Take care you have been in my thoughts with so many others this winter. Hugs Carrie

  9. Dear Beth,

I was quite surprised to read here about the passing of Elizabeth Taylor. My TV hasn't been on today. I like what you wrote "A star has gone to be a star in the sky." That's a beautiful tribute to Elizabeth. Rest in peace, dear Elizabeth.

"Slip-Slop-Slap" that was the name of a health campaign in Australia in the early 1980's to make people more aware of the risk of skin cancer. The campaign had a very catchy song "Slip on a shirt, slap on sunscreen, and slap on a hat." and I would think most Australian's know this song.

Oh, Beth, praying for your health concerns.

Nita has a catchy little phrase that I am constantly reminding myself to do (especially today) I'm petrified! I hope Nita won't mind me sharing it with you for the benefit of all of us, "Be Brave, Be Strong for the Lord Your God is with You"

Enjoy your hair cut. A hair cut is a nice time to relax. Ahh.

Bye for now. With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

  10. Hi Beth,
I was sad to hear of the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, I read it first on here on your blog yesterday, I wasn't at home and didn't have time to leave you a comment then. I am sorry about your health concerns and it is good advice you give about sun worship. I am having my hair cut today too, Amanda is at the hairdressers now having hers done and when she gets back, she will cut and colour mine. Tonight the boys are having theirs cut at the hairdressers, I have suggested, maybe group photo afterwards. Kerrie, I don't mind at all you mentioning, those words, they have been going round and round in my head, I was singing!? them to Callum this morning.

Take care, Love and hugs - Nita

  11. She was one of Hollywood's last great icons. A beautiful woman that did so much without making sure everyone knew about every single move she made. She gave from her heart. May she rest in peace.

A cold morning here, but at least the sun is shining today.

  15. Hi Beth, you have been a busy lady,
Liz Taylor wasn't one of my favourite actresses, probably cos she played dirty on Montgomery Clift in A Place in the Sun' [he was my favourite actor.]:-), though I did admire her beauty, stunning to look at.
I wish I had time to sit in the sun, but if I did I would heed the wise advice and wear sunscreen. Thanks for your visits to my site
