Memories are made of this

Sweet, sweet memories you gave-a me
you can't beat the memories you gave-a me

Take one fresh and tender kiss
Add one stolen night of bliss
One girl, one boy
Some grief, some joy
Memories are made of this

Don't forget a small moonbeam
Fold it lightly with a dream
Your lips and mine
Two sips of wine
Memories are made of this

Then add the wedding bells
One house where lovers dwell
Three little kids for the flavor
Stir carefully through the days
See how the flavor stays
These are the dreams you will savor

With His blessings from above
Serve it generously with love
One man, one wife
One love through life
Memories are made of this
Memories are made of this

Songwriters: Richard Dehr, Frank Miller, Terry Gilkyson

Three years ago on Mother’s Day I put my mom’s maiden name in Google.  What a surprise to find a photo of my mom as a baby being held in the arms of my grandfather and grandmother.  A cousin had traced the roots on my mom’s side clear back to the early 1600s in the Netherlands.  You will find the picture on the left side of my blog.

Knowing hardly anything about what had happened to my dad’s side of the family I put my dad’s full name into Google a few days ago.  There on a genealogical site I found someone searching for information about my grandfather on dad’s side.  A few emails later I had some family pictures and some new cousins that I knew nothing about in South Central Missouri.  Rae and I have always said that if we could locate all of our cousins that we could all hold hands and stretch all of the way across Route 66.

The words to the song posted above don’t have much to do with my post.  I just like that song and I have it playing here on my blog.

The countdown to Spring as I am typing this is 19 days, 10 hours, 5 minutes and 35 seconds.

Time to go and fix breakfast.  I will catch you all later.

Red heart  Beth

  4. @ for Sheila. Yes, Dean Martin had a #1 hit with this song. Mixpod didn't have a very good version of it. I do have it playing the 3rd song on Mixpod.

  5. Since the internet the world became so much smaller. How nice and fun it was to find family just by googleing.
Windy here today but at least the sun is out.

  7. finding family via the internet is the best! I found my lost sister that way. I think I'll try putting in family names like you did and see what I find. Thanks for the interesting post.

  8. Can I make you a cracked pepper turkey sandwich Beth? I've goggled my last name and found that my two sisters and I are the only three people in the country with our last name.

  9. I like that song...definitely brings back memories. Garry has done research on his family via the internet. My family has had the benefit of someone's research from years ago that goes back to the mid 1700's.
    Enjoy your spring countdown.

  10. Dang. I put both mother and daddy's full names in and got nada. Just nothing. I did find my aunt on mother's side..her obit. There must be something I'm not doing.

Now I'll be humming Memories are Made of This the rest of the day.

  11. What a great story of family memories. Researching our family tree is one of my passions! I love the stories of strength and hope that are right here in my family line :) How inspiring!

  12. fantastic that you got the information that way Beth, and also that you can now trace back to 17th century Holland, a Dutch maid truly then (so that explains the Twitter title!!) :-) ...
Lovely lyrics and song to sing along to, ... and I'm still thinking of your niece Dee, and hoping she's on the road to complete recovery...all the bets to you and yours, my friend..
