Will wonders never cease??

I was making a Kroger run this morning and I came to a 4-way stop sign.  I was there one second before a fuzz pulled up to the stop sign to my left.  Being an intelligent, knowledgeable person with a great respect for the law, I sat there waiting for the fuzz to go first.  Wonder of wonders, he waited for me to go forward.  With a feeling of apprehension I moved forward and the dear boy followed me all of the way to the Kroger store where he proceeded to go straight.  Whew!  I have lived in this city for a year now and I am still not sure what the speed limits are around town.  My daughter says 30 mph unless otherwise posted as some of the main thoroughfares are 35 mph.  In my previous big city, Champaign, the city streets unless posted were 25 mph.  The same in my little town I lived in before I moved here.  So to be on the safe side I split the difference and go 28 mph.  Is that you honking your horn behind me Twin?

Anyway, it is a fine day right now.  Bright sunshine and 28 degrees.  Snow is to come this week.  My WV sis said they got about 1 & 1/2 inches of snow last night.  I hope it all stays to the south of me.

I got some ground turkey at the store this morning and I am going to make a turkey loaf after a bit.  This is the recipe I have decided on.
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mrs. Dash
Mix all ingredients together and put in a greased loaf pan.  Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 45 minutes.

I will let you know tomorrow how it turns out.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. Hi Beth, I'm sure the police officer was just being polite. Right? Sure glad you didn't get a ticket, they can make you feel nervous when they follow along for miles. Enjoy the bright sunshine! With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

  2. I am glad you got no ticket. I sometimes wonder if they get a kick making us uncomfortable.
That turkey loaf sure sounds good and I bet it turns out good.

  3. I know how unnerving it can be to be followed by a cop. But, at least he wasn't after YOU. The turkey loaf sounds good, but my favorite is a ham loaf my mom used to make---so much better than regular meat loaf! Sometimes I mix hamburger with sausage and although it is greasier, it IS good and spicy enough. Enjoy the day and the upcoming spring weather!!!

  6. Oh boy, I hate it when they do that. It can be so intimidating, and I really do think they do it on purpose, but I guess we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
Your turkey loaf sounds good. I bought a turkey breast the other day, which I will roast so I can eat turkey sandwiches this week. I just love em.
It is sunny and about -2 here today, but it beats grey cloudy days and dampness. We went for a nice long walk down by the Bay this morning as we had someone come to look at the house from 10-11 a.m. Jesse had a great time.
Well you take care and enjoy your day, and week ahead.
    xoxo Dianne :)

  8. Hi Beth,

Think I will come to supper if it is okay with you!!! I like turkey, not sure about the Mrs Dash - what is that?

I would have found your experience with the police intimidating too.

Hope your week is great and not too cold and snowy brrr - spring?

    Hugs Nita.

  9. I believe they get a kick out of teasing us by doing that. I know that when I follow them, their eyes check the mirror a couple times. Been known fake like I am writing something down on paper - perhaps failure to use the turn signal (one of my pet peeves) while setting at a stop light.
Turkey loaf sounds good. We have done a ground chicken a couple times, pretty good meal. Will try the Turkey next.
Remember to smile at the officer next time!

  11. Could have been me too. I don't believe in letting any grass grow under my tires. Get there, get it done, go home, so leave me a clear path. lol

  12. Perhaps Mr. Policeman was eyeing you up. *wink wink* Maybe he just wanted to get behind you (grab your plate number so he knows who you are) ... be careful, next he'll be sizing up your grill. You just let me know if you have any problems with him. :)
I approve of your Turkey Loaf! Sounds healthy and delicious. Let's enjoy it with a side of veg and maybe a salad, shall we?
