'Cut the city in half': Death toll rises to 89 in Missouri tornado

This is heartbreaking news and the death toll will undoubtedly rise as the search is continuing.  http://www.htrnews.com/article/20110523/MAN0101/305240013/Update-89-killed-Joplin-Mo-tornado?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE  This really makes me feel small this morning.  My worries seem like nothing compared to this disaster.  Nancy, I know that you are in northern MO.  Please let us know that you guys are OK.  I do have a niece that lives at Kansas City and various relatives in south central MO.  Bryce, I hope you guys are all OK.

We got thunderstorms and just a small amount of rain yesterday.  We were under a tornado warning for about an hour yesterday, the worst storm being north of us.  No damage or loss of life, thank God!   This morning it is sunny and 68 degrees right now.

My smoke/carbon monoxide detector is acting up.  I am going to have to call maintenance at 9 AM to have them come and check it again.  I really hate that.  Why does this happen on a Saturday night?

Smile with tongue out
I still can’t access Blogger dashboard through IE.  I am having no problem accessing it through Firefox or Chrome.  If any of you are having trouble with dashboard you might want to try Firefox or Chrome.

And now I need to get busy and do a bit of cleaning.  I hope you all have a great week.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Was quite windy and rainy here but the worse went north of us. Having no trouble getting into dashboard here, (fingers crossed) and hope I don't.

  2. Firefox is absolutely the best of Browsers in the PC world as far as I am concerned. I had both IE and Forefox loaded when I had a PC but I always used Firefox. I just wound up keeping IE for the bookmarks if I needed them. I loaded them onto FF but I added more to IE occasionally and so, I just lept it. My Safari Browser is all I need now. Nothing elae loaded.

We had what you did. Thunderstorms and rain for a while..hail in some areas and a brief warning. I too am worried about our friends in MO.

  7. We are ok up here on the holler! We sure did see the awful storms brewing just east of us going to Iowa. Reading KS was devastated too. It's very humid/hot today.

  12. All of these storms are very scary and each one seems to be more powerful than the last one.

We just put up a new smoke detector and it went off when I was making a grilled cheese! Took that one down and put the old one back up. Sheesh that's a little too sensitive....and it wasn't even burnt!

  13. It's very difficult to watch the Tornado news and I worry about our friends in these locations. Yesterday we had tornado watches here but not for long, thank God. Glad you're OK.

  14. Severe thunderstorms here overnight and flash flooding south and east of us. Laura's boyfriend couldn't get home after work because of washed out roads and had to go to a relative's.

I've given up on IE completely. I download and try each "latest and greatest version" only to learn it's just the same old dog in a fancy new collar. Firefox and Chrome are both much faster and more stable that IE.

  16. There's been so much devastation around the world lately and it makes my heart hurt too. Wouldn't it be nice to turn the tv, radio, or pc's on and get nothing but good news for a change even if just for one day. Is that too much to ask for?
Well have a great week Beth and take care !

Thank you for Callum's birthday message.
He reads my blog sometimes so will probably see it, but will tell him anyway.

  18. Hi Beth, I've been a bit out of the loop this weekend and only briefly caught news of the tornadoes, and meant to ask you folks in the states if you were affected, it's such a huge country and I'm not brilliant at geography so couldn't pinpoint anywhere, however I'm glad that you are Ok and hope your relatives are too.

I stopped using IE ages ago as i found it kept crashing, Chrome is my choice, with no problems.
Thanks for dropping by, I'm off to bed now, as I've been on the laptop all evening trying to catch up. keep well XX
