First, let me begin by saying that I do not believe in the death penalty. The one good thing that our disgraced governor George Ryan did for the state of Illinois was to temporarily abolish the death penalty. Our present governor, Pat Quinn made it official this year. If I did believe in the death penalty I could think of no more deserving a person than Casey Anthony.
And now why I think I have the answer as to why Casey Anthony was found not guilty. The jury was sequestered for over 6 weeks away from family and friends. They were tired, they wanted to go home, they didn’t want to be burdened with a death penalty case. Perhaps if it had been a manslaughter case she might have been convicted. Jose Baez sickened me. When he would walk out of the courthouse he would pose for pictures. The celebration across the street from the courthouse that the defense team indulged in after the verdict was beyond ignorant. It proves that Baez has no class.
Someone was responsible for the death of Caylee Anthony. Perhaps it was a tragic accident, however, if this were so, I do believe it would have been reported. I am not sure if George and Cindy Anthony were truthful on the stand. It makes no difference. Caylee is gone forever and what is angering me and millions of other people is the fact that she was discarded as if she was trash. How the jury could overlook that is beyond me.
All of this said, I do respect the jury system in our country, although right at this very minute, I do not think justice was served in the state of Florida yesterday.

I agree Beth. I agree. I too don't believe in the death penalty, but I do think she should have spend her life in jail. I believe that God has a plan, though we may never know what that plan is.

I only followed this on the news. I can only assume that the case was not proven to the jury as they say, "beyond a shadow of a doubt".
ReplyDeleteI don't think the death penalty has slowed down the crime rate one iota.
Very well said. This case has bothered America. I was not on that jury and did not see in person any evidence. However, putting aside the Guilty or Not Guilty aspect, what type of mother realizes her child is missing and goes out and parties and a month later says, "Oh by the way, my baby is gone." It is like the lawyers, the judge, the jurors could not care about the fine nuances of neglect in this case. Did she do it or not? We will never know, but we DO know that she was guilty of way more than just telling lies. My question is, where does it go from here? Will they continue to investigate to find the truth or will they say "Well, if she didn't do it, guess somebody else did." and just let it drop? My heart breaks for that baby and the life she will never know.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more my friend. Every time I think of the disgusting behavior of Casey even at the reading of the verdict I feel sick. It's a blight on our country right now and continues the feeling that it's always a kangaroo court then a miscarriage of justice. So very sad for us all.
ReplyDeleteI agree, as well. Someone needs to answer for what happened to that poor little girl and now nobody will. Just as in the OJ Simpson trial, when the accused is showered with media attention for months and months of end pre-trial there is no way in the world to seat an impartial jury and the victim is victimized once again.
ReplyDeleteBottom line for me is that she's guilty and should have been found so.

(¸.•´ (¸.• ♫ ♪ I am in total shock. What in God's name does that jury know that I don't. Not even second degree ....... what the heck?!?!! Why would she provide false information if she was innocent? Wouldn't a loving, caring mother of a missing child offer up any and all truthful information she possessed?
I STILL THINK SHE KILLED HER DAUGHTER! The jury could only say not guilty because they didn't have enough evidence to convict, or else she would have been found guilty. She may have escaped judgement here on earth but there will be a final judgement when Casey dies GOD will judge her for the blood of that innocent baby that He blessed her with!!! Casey Anthony may God have mercy on your soul!
