Through pondering…

It was a hard decision to make but I have decided that I can cope with a heat wave better than I can cope with 2 feet of snow which is what mother nature blessed us with in February.

2 Feb 2011 my nephew’s house in Northern Illinois.  Click to make larger.

I was out as soon as the places opened to pay my cable and utility bill this morning.  Even at 9 AM the humidity was so high that it was a chore just to breathe.  Right at this minute our heat index is 106 to climb as high as 115 by 4 PM.  And the “excessive” heat warning as been extended now until 7 PM Saturday.

I skipped the grocery store, but I will probably go there very early tomorrow morning (7AM) as tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day this week.  We haven’t had but a trace of rain this month and the grass is turning brown.  My poor old tomato plants are struggling.  I have been lucky enough to get 4 ripe tomatoes so far.  I had a bacon and tomato sandwich for lunch.  YUMM!!!

STAY COOL !!

  1. We're nowhere near that warm....yet, but the humidity was 90% when I took Buddy out at 8:30 and combined with the 86 degree temperature it was enough to choke me up a little before I came back inside....and cranked the A/C a little higher.

  2. Wow that is torturously hot! Its pretty intense here too...But I still like it better than all that snow. We have been enjoying cucumbers and arugala(sp) from our small garden but our back yard grass is fried!

  7. Oh, Beth, Maybe you should consider a trip to the northwest. Our weather has been pure heaven for almost everyone except the sun worshipers who want it over 80. We are breaking records just the opposite of the midwest. We have had only 78 hours of summer meaning over 80, and this hasn't happened before. I send you wishes for improvement.

  8. I'm with you though I don't know if I would be with that kind of heat and humidity. we're in the nineties but haven't broken 100 and have humidity in the 30 percentiles...not too bad. Our winters are brutal with cold that rivals what most states save Alaska have...yeah, I prefer heat.

  9. I also prefer the heat... So lucky that it never gets cold enough here to snow...
    Have a great day Beth...

  10. We will approach 100 degrees in the next couple of days. I am not a fan of snow and cold but neither am I a fan of this heat. In the winter you can always put something else on but in the summer you can only take so much off. I can't wait for the fall. Oh wait then it will be winter again. Arghhhh!

  11. Now that's my kind of sandwich. Had one myself last night. The heat is getting so many down. I have the shades closed to keep the sun out and A/C on but set at 78. Staying right here.
