Where did the time go?

My iPod in the bedroom somehow got set to start playing at 6AM.  I am innocent of that, however that is a good time to get up.  I have been busy ever since.  Laundry first thing this morning and then a trip to the pharmacy again to pick up a med prescribed by the doctor yesterday.  It wasn’t ready, not to be in the pharmacy till 3:30 this afternoon.  Well the heck with that so I said I would pick it up in 2 or 3 days.  Not something I wanted to take anyway.

I moved on along to the Aldi store.  They are quite a bit cheaper on most items.  I checked the labels and so many things are manufactured in a foreign country.  Something is wrong with that.  Why can’t we manufacture food items like Nestle’s Quik in America??  Why are we paying big bucks to companies that hire workers (in this case, Mexico) at a low hourly wage.  I am trying more and more to buy things made in America.  It is no wonder the unemployment rate is so high here.

Well, through ranting on that subject, moved on to Kroger and finished shopping.  I did get a nice size whole chicken for 69 cents a pound and I am thinking chicken and stuffing for the weekend.

Then home to watch Y&R and I had my mind made up to bake banana bread this afternoon, which I did.  This place smells good!!

And that is why I have been so busy today.  I am hoping there are some garage sales tomorrow so I can be busy then too.

You all stop by if you’re in the neighborhood; banana bread and a cup of tea is waiting for you.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Sounds good. My house smells good today. Made a Sunshine Cake for a friend's birthday tomorrow. Yes, we need jobs in the USA...can't imagine why they don't get it. That needs to change. Who can afford to buy any of their foreign crap if they don't have a job? Or at least one that pays like the middle class used to make.

  2. Hi Beth,

Hope you have a great weekend - Hugs Nita.

  3. I could almost smell that banana bread! Busy days go by so fast! Hope you get some garage sales in tomorrow. :)

  4. Blessings Beth....
Time? hmmmmm, don't bother look, its got a mind of its own and does what it wants in spite of everything and anything.

Love the header photograph. IPod hmmmm, gotta get me one of those, but lord the price is ridiculous. I'll keep my eye out for a sale.

Take care of you, stay blessed and have a fabulous week.

  5. Now you have me wondering and will check where things are made. I do but the food stuffs not so much except the fresh produce.
I bought bananas today myself for dipping in chocolate and freezing. Take it easy and get your pills!

  6. I think the tea and bread sounds great. Wish I could stop by. ;)

  7. I can almost smell that banana bread! I get up at 6 too, but not because I want to ...I have to get the kids ready for school. Have a great weekend Beth!
    Blessings, Joanne

  8. I have some banana's that need to be made into bread, which I was planning to do today.

I so agree on the 'made in America' rant. Could go on for hours on that subject, but will be good.

  9. You got going early did you? I think if my i-Pod disturbed me at anything around 6 it would find itself outside after being thrown through a window! I'm a night owl and then get up to do things usually around 8. Wow, so much about food on people's blogs today! If everyone got together and had a restaurant I imagine the menu would be spectacular! Have a great day my friend!

  10. I won't buy any food in a box not made here IF I can help it. And it seems..I may be wrong..please check the Quik boxes in a regular grocery and see, that only the low dollar places have stuff made in other countries and many times, according to Consumer Reports you'll find it's counterfeit and not the real thing (well, duh!) and tastes off or worse.

Remember the so called Colgate toothpaste made in China for sale in Dollar Stores? Counterfeit and had harmful additives. Colegate was mad and rattled some sabers over that. Using their name.

  11. @ for TWIN...I checked the box in Kroger and it too was manufactured in Mexico.

  12. I try to buy made in Australia but you need to check it up the box or in the Jar because it says packed in Australia from imported ingredients on the box, and a lots of were like that.

Our Banana is very expense is now $A 8-00 - $A12-00 Kg because up the north Q.L.D.The banana plantation was destroy by hurricane for early this years.
My thought was why we are not imports from Taiwan?
So many others are imports from over seas.
Anyway not worry about it only banana:-)
So many other yummy fruit that you can buy them.
Only can trust for a fresh Veg and fruits.
Take care don't forget take pills:-)
