On my high horse again…

What can I say?  One word says it all. Blagojevich!  Yesterday Rod Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison.  Just one in a long line of corrupt politicians we have been blessed? with in the state of Illinois.  Trying to save his a$$ some time to be spent in prison he apologized repeatedly yesterday in front of the judge.  Smiling here, I say it did him no good.  No more celebrity or reality TV shows for him, at least for the next 12 years or so.  Blagojevich has to report to prison in February.  I hope while he is in prison that he is forced to get a haircut as I am tired of looking at that hair hanging in his eyes.

I don’t think I have to explain who Blagojevich is as he has made Illinois a laughingstock all around the world.  At least Ryan had a poor old sick wife that I felt sorry for.  I can’t think of anything in Blago’s life that would warrant my showing him compassion.  Illinois is so far in debt that my grandchildren’s grandchildren will not live long enough to see our state in the black.  By the way, I don’t have any grandchildren just to set the record straight.

Enough ranting for today.  It is cold outside, 25 degrees and snow is in the forecast for tonight.  I need to force myself off this chair and go clean the bathroom, one of my most hated jobs

You all stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Now that you have that off your chest, how's it going so far? LOL I agree, he got just what he had coming.

  2. Glad they handed him at least that much time. Hope he serves every day of it too...but I doubt he will. Well, at least he won't be out there dealing with the public for a while...Have a happy holiday season.

  3. Ahh yes, politicians. Don't even get me started on that subject. Glad he got what he deserves - only maybe not quite enough.

  4. OH YEAH..wondering just how much of the sentence he will really serve? May they shave off his lovely locks and he go baldheaded, that would probably hurt more than the sentence. :-)

  5. My guess is that he has better facilities than the other prisoners and I doubt he'll serve it all if not any actually. OK I'm very skeptical...lol
We just got snow showers yesterday.

  7. Just a very light dusting here last night and it's already melted away in today's bright sunshine although it is getting cold (35 now) and only supposed to get colder in the days ahead.

I wonder if Blago will end up at one of those country club minimum security joints. I was on temporary duty at Maxwell Air Force Base once and really irritated to see the federal prisoners living better than us junior NCOs.

  8. It just makes me so sad that ppl that are trusted can do such horrible things. I'm glad we get to see someone punished for once but sadly it doesn't help the damage that was done.

Yes the bathroom my least favorite also! 3 boys makes it so not fun :).

    Hope you stay warm inside!

  9. Do you feel better now? :) I'm sure he'll not serve a full sentence - or they will give him some posh, ritzy place to stay.

  10. His hair has always bugged me, too. I don't even watch the news and I know who he is because he's been all over the tube...and quite the arrogant little fellow, I must say. I didn't even know the facts of the case, but he seemed like a blatantly poor liar to me. I bet most people in Illinois are thrilled he's going to jail. But why does he get to wait till February? They should have carted him right off in handcuffs. I don't think I will ever understand our judicial system.

Now, I'm done ranting, too. ;) We're supposed to dip below zero tonight. Too cold to snow. :)

  13. I like it when you're fiesty Beth. Yes it is good to see one of theses sleazy clowns get caught. Massachusetts might give Illinois a run for it's money when it comes to corruption. Our latest Speaker of the House just went to prison on corruption and bribery charges. It's everywhere.

  14. I thought of you, Twin. I knew you'd be jumping up and down with happiness. I did think of you when I saw that..seriously. And I wonder is that hair hanging down or does he have an extraordinarily low hairline? I'd get it removed.

  15. I saw that he got nailed and didn't feel pity. I knew you'd be feeling some satisfaction for sure. One down and God knows how many to go.

  16. Hi Beth, don't know about the Blaggo guy, but \I guess by your blog he deserved what he got, I'd bring back hanging for many crimes, but as I don't know what his was, I'll hang fire on his.
Our country is in a mess too, and I don't think it will be sorted in my lifetime, Is there anywhere in the world that isn't in trouble of some sort, be it warring with someone or in the grips of corruption? I'm off to be in a moment.

  17. I think the length of the sentence is largely his reward for flaunting his disregard for the whole system by going on all kinds of TV shows after the resignation. It is actually, I think, quite a long sentence, and I bet he would have gotten less if he had acted with more discretion. I do not think his behavior reflects that much on the state - what state has clean politics. The danger for all of us is that we all feel like there is nothing we can do about this situation. If we do nothing, why should it stop; yet, I am not sure what we CAN do. I personally totally support the Occupy Wall Street and all the other Occupy groups. The powers that be successfully play the conservative versus liberal game to keep the folks riled up, while they win either way.

  18. You were the first person I thought of when I heard the verdict. He should be starting his 12 years immediately!
