46 days…

and on the downward spiral towards Spring.  I am running so late this morning as I have been to two grocery stores and cleaned them out.  lol  I am definitely well stocked in the grocery line so come on over and  I will feed you.  That means you too RB!

Dr. visit yesterday was more of the same.  Dr. G. was very nice to me and only called me honey a couple of times.  For some reason the doctors all forget we have a name and we are either honey, darlin’, sweetie or young lady.  I really don’t like that.  Please call me by my last name, Mrs. D.  as I have cherished that name for over 50 years.  Even though I may be somewhat over the hill I have a  higher than average IQ.  Nothing new from the visit except that I have to have another stress test next week.  I am wanting to get back in to exercise/working out again (big time) and the doctor says no until I have had another stress test.

Then to the results of the sleep study.  Well, I am pondering that for awhile.  Got enough on my mind as it is.

All for today.  I have to get the groceries put away and in 15 minutes it is time for The Young and the Restless which I am hopelessly addicted to.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  2. I've heard those stress tests are absolutely miserable. It can seem when they don't know what's to be found that's wrong with you they look until they can make something wrong. I really pray that you get through the tests and can be free of all that. It's cooled down some here but still I really can't complain...it's a bright blue sky this morning and I've got coffee on hand...yep, no complaints! Have a wonderful day Mrs. D!

  3. YOu gave me a smile today Twin. Love that you are feeling more upbeat enough to complain about those condescending names. I only have one place that does that so far. The pet food place's little maybe 18 yr old calls me honey and sweetie. I just want to swing the bag o' cans her way. xoxox

  4. Good grief. I can't imagine a doctor calling me sweetie, or any other endearing name. So happy you got a good report. It's tough when you can't exercise and want to. I used to walk 3 miles 5 days out of 7. Now I can barely get to the mail box and back.

  5. My one doctor does that to. Must be something they are told in med school on dealing with patients. If so, they can remove that part of the education. As for stores, I think they're afraid we would be insulted with maam. Try to do my grocery shopping before 8. Stores are nicely sparse of people at that time of the morning.

  6. At the hospital I work at, we will get fired if we call a patient any endearing term....they said there are too many ethnicities and too many different cultures and too many different religions....some take offense....and we also cannot wear sleevless shirts....can you imagine??? We live where it is over 100 degrees about 1/3 of the year, and we cannot wear sleeveless because we might offend someone's culture. sheesh. What happened to America? I do understand, though, wanting them to call you by your name....it makes it more personal and makes you feel like they know who you are....you are not just a number.

I had a stress test about 10 years ago....it was simple as pie...probably because there was nothing wrong with me but NERVES from my job!!!

I'm glad someone is keeping the grocery stores in business! We eat fast food too much! Hurry, Spring, and visit Beth!!!

  8. Hi Beth,

Typed you a long comment and then it wouldn't publish. arrgh
Most doctors and nurses here, call you by your first name and announce themselves that way too. In shops it is darling or honey or young lady (which makes me smile.)but can sometimes irritate me, guess it is the way it is said and how many times in a sentence.

It is so so cold here -10 -11c in some places and about -2night here and not much warmer during day. The long promised snow, looks set to arrive this weekend and don't think there is much chance of it bypassing us this time.

As for working out I really enjoyed my Zumba, which I blogged about and I hope the weather isn't going to prevent me from going again this Monday.

    Hugs Nita

    1. I laughed out loud when I read this. What a great idea. The next time a doctor pats me on the shoulder and calls me honey I will say OK honeybunch!!

  10. Good luck on your stress test and congrats on the stocking up. You seem to be going to the store all the time. ;)

I've never had a doctor call me honey. Maybe they don't dare do that up here. Or maybe he likes-you likes-you--LOL! ;)

    1. I hope you have plenty enough supplies in but it's not going to be so bad that you'll run out.
Stress tests ? they don't sound like much fun Beth, i do hope your health improves after all these visits and exercises. I could just picture the response if a doctor called a patient 'honey or darlin' her in UK he'd be up on a charge for disrespect or something :-), it's getting so pos faced here with political correctness, but, TBH I don't really approve of that much familiarity to older people, maybe I'm old fashioned. Waiting in anticipation for the invite ;-)

  14. I hope the stress test isn't stressful, although they're no fun. Don't let them do the drug induced like they did on Andy. I think his Dr. was on a joy ride, blogged about it, don't recall the date.

  15. I like what Nancy said too.I see it as a put down when I'm called these endearing names. We were taught in nursing not to.
