at 37 degrees which makes for a chilly outing. Only 25 days left on the countdown to Spring. It is not going to be spring like at all today as the temps are to fall all afternoon and the rain is to change to snow.
I have been to Kroger with my daughter this morning to shop. I don’t know if you get the Kroger ad in your part of the country that promises that you won’t have to wait in line. HA!!!! This is a large store. There was one checker on 15 items or less and one regular checker plus a lot of the check yourself lines were open. I don’t like the check yourself lines. I think it is just another way for a job to be lost. To make a long story short, the wait in line did not match the promise of a speedy checkout that is touted in the TV ad.
I have mentioned dozens of times in my blogs that I am a people watcher. I don’t mean that in a derogatory fashion at all. I try to smile and say hi each time someone tries to run me over with a cart. I never get defensive at all. I just say ‘pardon you’ and give them a big smile. All of that nonsense put aside, I saw two sailors in full dress uniform in the store today. Awesome! Age range, 18 to early 20s. The mother in me wanted to hug the both of them, say thank you, and ask if I could take their pic for my blog. Darned if they weren’t moving so fast I lost them in the crowd. Maybe next time.
I did get out to Bergner’s yesterday. I got the shoes. There were lots of good buys in the men’s department and I did think about starting Christmas shopping early but I decided against it. Men’s $60-$70 dollar shirts at a good reduced price and then take off 85% and the price was amazing.
My shoes and 3 guesses as to who is in the pic sitting there.
I am running way late so I think I will close and start thinking about what to have for lunch.
You all stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
It feels nothing like spring here either right now. A storm front passed through last night that brought wind and more gray that we will be enduring for a time. The bright side is it's not going to be as cold as they said but still it's not very nice out. We go to visit a friend we know from church who had twins the other day...you don't see that every day! Have a good day my friend!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see a young man in uniform I instantly feel the same way....and then I think of their Moms. It must be so hard to have a son in the Military. I was an Army wife and that was very difficult at times, but looking at my little boy....It would be so hard to let go. Have an Awesome day Beth!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
No Krogers up here that I know of.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a good deal on the shoes.
Snowing lightly here right now. Doesn't look like spring at all.
Hope you're having a good day. :)
None to nice here either and it's going to get worse they say. Sounds like a Walmart too. Workers walking all over the store and 3 checkouts open. Grrrr! I always try to say thank you to any servicemen I see.
ReplyDeleteThey don't follow thru on the commercials here either! You wait in line forever.
ReplyDeleteI recognize that handsome man. I have seen his picture before.
Now I believe I would have bought the shirts Just ut them on the closet shelf.
Rain rain rain wind wind thunderstorms and rain here.
xoxoxox
I love that picture of Jim. It is one taken right before he got sick. He looked so healthy.
DeleteI'm sorry your weather wasn't so great, it was sunny and 64 degrees today. Unseasonably warm for Feb., but I'll take it. We don't have Krogers here but the supermarket lines are always long.
ReplyDeleteIt is getting colder here tonight with rain and more snow in the mountains by tomorrow night. But we are heading south in the morning to Portland for my Jim to a Train Show with friends, and then to Seaside, Or. for the rest of the week. When we come back at the end of next week the Cherry trees will be in bloom. They always are by Mar.1. I had a black chinned Hummer return yesterday for the first time this year, and saw two Robins last week. Soonnn. Springggg. Beach Gal Bertie
ReplyDeleteOh sorry to hear the weather Beth sounds chilly and snow yak!! Glad you took sis advice and bought your shoes you had your heart set on. It's fairly mild here and damp no sun to be seen at all. Hugs Sheila and Wile-e have a good day.xx
ReplyDeletePity you didn't get a photo of the Navy lads Beth, I'd love to have seen it.
ReplyDeleteWhat i see of your shoes they look nice and comfy, I wish you the health to wear them as we say. I hope come Christmas you don't regret not buying these shirts. i've done that.
I agree with what you say about the self checkers, at this rate it'll soon be a totally computerised store everywhere. and they won't have any staff to pay. while they coin in the profits.
Spring is getting closer. yippppeeee
my guess without looking at anyone else's guess...Jim? Nice shoes....and how nice that someone wanted to thank those young men and take pictures with them. Too bad they didn't treat the boys like that when they came back from Vietnam. Hubby actually had someone throw something at him in the airport and call him a baby killer. He was just doing his duty.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to post a comment ANYWHERE on Blogger for 2 days. I kept getting logged out using Google Chrome. Then I try this slow beast Internet Explorer and it works......I hope. If you don't see tis it didn't work.......and I'll be saying all sorts of naughty words.
ReplyDeleteIT WORKED!! We've had snow, rain, high winds, tornado warnings, torrential rain, some sun and now we're looking at snow tonight after a high in the 60s this morning. All of that in a 3 day period. Mother Nature hs gone NUTZ!
ReplyDeleteWell here I am a day late and a dollr short (Can you loan me a buck?) I've sworn off most shoes I now where New Balance strictly. As far as I'm concerned they are the best and most comfortable to wear. This doesn't apply to formal dress of course. No snow again. just a lot of rain yesterday. Tooday is sunny but very windy. A few more blogs then I must get ready for my night shift. Over and out.
