Dreary…

rainy morning.  It rained all night, is still raining and I think from all reports the rain is here to stay for a couple of more days.

Definitely not a day for cleaning so that nipped that passing thought in the bud.  I have to be motivated to clean and I am not motivated at all today.  I think I will hunt a good book and read.  I have over 100 books on my Nook and two shelves full so surely I can find something to read.

Yesterday I did cook a little bit of roast and a couple of potatoes.  I will think about something to cook for today and tomorrow.  Something that will pass the time and keep me busy since I won’t venture out in the rain unless it is urgent.  That will be the first thing on my agenda after I get off the computer.  Check the freezer.

I found a nice little table at a garage sale yesterday and a cookbook and that is the extent of my purchases.

Next week will be a busy one for me, 2 appointments back to back.

I have the container and in a couple of weeks I will get a bag of topsoil and a tomato plant and I will be in the business of growing tomatoes.  Oh I do so miss my garden at home.  I spent many an hour in the garden.  My favorite thing was picking the pole green lima beans then shelling and freezing them.   Next was the tomato plants.  We always had at least 15 tomato plants and there was only the two of us.  Plenty to share with the neighbors.

In these pictures you can see the green lima beans growing on the fence.  Click to make larger.

Off to see the wizard and find out what is hiding in my freezer.  You all stay safe and be happy!

Beth

P.S.  a note for Boston Boy.  Thank you!  You are as nice a brother as my real brother is.  Bless you!

  1. I think you will be sharing your rain with us. It will start here this evening and continue all day tomorrow. We really need the rain, but we don't need the severe storms that will be coming with it.

  3. My tomato plant is put on the deck hanging on for dear life and so is the red (sweet) bell pepper. We have had a week of sunshine! I know that will end here shortly but oh, how nice instead of the third year of seemingly incessant rain..day after day or overcast.

  5. Our growing season is such that I won't be putting much in planters until next month. I guess that's good or bad depending on one's point of view. It's 54 with lot's of clouds today so you could say typical for us here in Montana. I'm ready for the warmth and exciting storms of our spring when it finally decides to arrive but for now I think I'll be waiting on the quirky season to decide what it's going to do. Have a great weekend my friend.

  7. We got some rain while I was traveling this morning, but then in the afternoon, the sun came out, bright as ever. I've not had much gardening luck over the past few years. We have a small garden area, but sadly, I don't think I have a green thumb!

  8. Sitting and reading when it's raining outside is good!! As we counsellors say 'Stay with that thought!'
Thanks for your kind support over my garden incident with the cattle. Much appreciated. Joan

YOu don't like the rain! I love the rain perhaps because most of my best memories were of rainy days. Its a time for quiet connections, reconnections, warmth, coziness, rest and peace. At least for me anyways.

Have a good one and for you I wish it to ease.

    stay blessed.

  10. I enjoy baking when it's raining, trouble is when there is only 'you' it makes it a bit pointless unless you're going to see some friends or having visits to share with. I bet you have some fun with your new cook book anyway. One tomato plant will be enough for you Beth, and don't worry that you can't grow your Lima beans any more, let the neighbors look out for you for a change. Keep warm.

  12. Freshly picked vegetables especially those that are free from synthetic pesticides taste simply wonderful and taste more delicious than those purchased in a grocery store... especially tomatoes. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with your efforts and a little help from Mother Nature on your veggies!
