Better, Busy, Funny…

Tuesday here in the heart of central Illinois.  I am resigned to the wait for the new glasses and put that thought in the ‘Don’t go there’ part of my brain.

I have been busy this morning.  My daughter went with me to the DMV office to get a new $99 sticker for my car  license plates.  I don’t know what it is, but I just don’t like that place.  When I first moved here and went to get a  sticker they took my Korean War license plates away from me.  The reason was “Ms. De, you are not a veteran, your husband was, therefore you are not entitled to Korean War plates.”  I didn’t think that was fair but I went along with it mainly because I had no choice.  The thought did cross my mind to get in touch with my congressman but I figured he was way too busy making the cover of various magazines.  Anyone reading this from my area will instantly know who I am talking about.  http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/aaron-schock-fitness  Anyway, the sticker is on my plate and I am good to go for another year.

Then we went to Peoria and I purchased the new TV which is due to be delivered tomorrow.  They were very helpful and I hope there is no hangup with getting me hooked back up to my beloved (not) Comcast.  I had such a laugh while waiting for the paperwork to be all drawn up for the TV.  One elderly gentleman (yep, even older than me) was making arrangements to have something delivered tomorrow.  He told them that he didn’t know where he would be living tomorrow but I think I know where I am living now.  I burst out laughing.  Have you ever heard Billy Ray Cyrus sing “Where Am I Gonna Live When I Get Home?”  The words to that song popped into my mind immediately.  Poor old soul.  I looked at him and we smiled at each other.

“Where am I gonna live when I get home?
My old lady's thrown out everything that I own.
She meant what she said
when she wished I was dead
So, where am I gonna live when I get home?”

Words by Billy Ray Cyrus the pride and joy of Flat Woods KY, just up the road from my WV sis.

My daughter and I ate at the Golden Corral.  We were going to Olive Garden but it was on the other half of the city.  It was altogether a very nice morning.  Thank you to my daughter!

Partly sunny and 68 degrees here today.  I hope you all are enjoying it.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. Lord help, Twin...when you wonder where you'll live when you get home.

Had to laugh at that gentleman. I wonder what was going on in his life?

The Golden Corral I went to in NC was not a place I feel I particularly want to go to again. So so food. No service of course.

    1. I agree with you. The food is OK but not outstanding, that is for sure. It was right on the way home though.

  2. Nice that you had a nice day with your daughter. That is always nice.
We have express MVA's around here that make a trip there much easier. You can also do so much on line now here too which saves a trip to the MVA altogether which is great.
The rain is back here again but it sure makes everything look so lush and green.

  4. OMGosh they took the plates away! Who cares if you're the vet or not you're a spouse and that should be good enough!

Yeah I'm glad you got a new TV. I hope the hook up goes with out any probs!

  5. Hit 72 here today and I spent most of the day in the backyard! Sounds like you had a good day, and I don't think that was fair of them to take your plates...just sayin'...

Glad you had such a good day!!

  6. I think they should change that rule for Veteran's wives. Military wives sacrafice alot too! We may not be in the trenches, but we take over everything (our husbands did) while they are gone. We make sure our soldiers have a Home to come home to! Doesn't seem right at all! Hope there are no snafus with the TV. Have an awesome day Beth!
    Blessings, Joanne

  8. My husband is always on the phone with Comcast when we have to connect a new TV! One would think the connecting would be simpler. Sorry about your glasses.:(

  9. Wow, you have been busy! I can't believe they took your license plate away. How rude! Don't they know how much these veterans' wives support them? Totally unfair!

  10. I don't blame you for not liking the DMV...ours never does much for me either. The worst is the next time I go there it will be for my daughter taking her driving test which certainly reminds me how time flies...ah well. BTW I think you're right about the license...for goodness sake!
