Lightning and thunder…

but only a drop of rain.  Yes, in the time it took me to get my camera and go outside the lightning, thunder and the 2 drops of rain were gone.  It has become very dark outdoors  now so maybe we will get a couple of drops more.  Lack of rain has become a serious threat to the farmers here in central Illinois.  the corn and bean crops are beginning to stress.

Looking out at the cemetery behind me this morning and listening to the thunder.

One of my tomato plants is looking better.  The other plant looks very sad and I think it is on its last leg.

I bought two tomatoes at the store the other day and yesterday I had a BLT.  Not bad but can’t touch the taste of a real tomato.

I braved the lightning and the one drop of rain to go to the pharmacy this morning to pick up some prescriptions.  And now I have some chicken on cooking for my lunch.I hope you all have a great day.

Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. i know the midwest is suffering for rainfall this year - that and the non-winter must be tough on the farmers!

  2. Wish we could have shared the rain yesterday. I kept my garden growing by watering and the rain yesterday boosted the growth. Rain is better than well water like a store bought tomato versus one from the garden. Have a good day my friend and thank you for that heart felt card!!!!

  3. Hope you get some more rain. Hope we get some too! You are right, store bought tomatoes don't taste like those fresh off the garden vine. Have a good Sunday!

  4. I'm hoping you will have the rain that is needed for those crops on which the farmers are so dependent. My husband is able to water our garden, but nothing is as good as the real thing.
I'm waiting for our first tomato for that BLT here.:)

  5. Well, I hope some of our rain that left is heading your direction. When you showed the cemetery it made me wonder when you show the monthly tree shot next--LOL! I can never remember things like I used to. ;)

Hope you had a great lunch and a sweet day. :)

  7. It is so dry here. The crops are suffering from it. I sure hope we get rain here soon too. Your tomato plant in the picture looks like it is doing well.

  8. We got .6 inch last week....and we look like a desert already. We need a slow steady rain for a day. I will be praying for this for all of us. Maybe a system could start at California and work it's way day by day across the country. Wouldn't that be wonderful? No lightning and no hail....no tornadoes...just some soaking rain. And a week of below 100 highs.

  10. I think while you were getting your one drop of rain, we were getting 1/2 inch hail. It was really coming down and I was worried about our vinyl siding, but it was okay.

  11. You tomato plant looks good and I hope it gets some good rain. Our showers don't last long, when we get them. A BLT sure sounds good.

  13. We had a little rain yesterday, but here if we get thunder, it will only be one or two claps. Yesterday's was one clap. I miss the storms we had in the midwest, but not violent ones.

I know what you mean by the taste of fresh off the vine tomatoes. Enjoy when you get them. BGB

  14. I hope you get some real rain for the sake of the farmers. You're right nothing can match the taste of home grown tomatoes. I'm sorry I din't plant any this year. Thanks for visiting, always a pleasure when you stop by.
