Walking in the cemetery…

Yesterday was such a beautiful day I took a walk through the part of the cemetery closest to me.  It is a huge cemetery which is miles long.

This stone in particular caught my eye.  The verse on it is wonderful.

It was peaceful but sad walking in the cemetery.  There is no green grass.  The only thing green there is the weeds.  The ground crunches underneath as you walk.

Some of the trees are losing their leaves way too soon.  I have more pictures which I will show at another time.

Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. It's a very dry season isn't it my friend? There's something about the thoughts left behind on those gravestones. I often think of those I love that have passed on much like that...there are times when they seem so close in nature in particular. Have a blessed Sunday.

  4. There is something so peaceful about walking through a cemetery, especially if you don't know anyone buried there. I love the feeling and find it so interesting. The stone is great and hats off to it's owner, whose soul has gone to a better place.

  6. The verse tells a lot about him, it seems. The leaves here are changing too. One yard has yellow leaves to match their yellow flowers...lol

  7. Beth, I like to walk thru cemetaries also. You can learn things reading the stones. About the trees losing their leaves too soon...so are ours. Smiles, Susie

  10. It's good that the weather permitted walking outdoors yesterday! Our weather is cooler today, but I shy away from calling it a sign that autumn is approaching. It's simply a cold front passing through - quickly, I might add!:)

  12. Great pictures and verse. It's sad to see everything so brown,. I hope you get some of the rain you need soon. We have received some this past week, so we aren't quite that brown up here.

  13. Except for the crunchy grass, this could be the cemetery we frequent. We enjoy a stroll through the cemetery. It is much nicer for walking rather than on the sidewalks or in the streets. We don't have a park large enough for walking. I enjoy reading the stones, seeing the people's names, and trying to figure out the mysteries in the cemetery. There are quite a few!

  16. What a great stone! Made me happy just reading it.
The tree shouldn't be so brown already. Just so dry. I hope the trees last through till a better year next year. :)

  17. As you know I have my favorite cemetery, The Mount Auburn Cemetery. A wonderful place to peacefully walk. I don't care to walk in the cemetery near my house, which is a nice place, but there is a stone with my name on it just waiting for me. It'a a bit unsettling for me.

  18. Now that was a cool headstone. Thanks for sharing it. Love this post. I haven't walked a Tucson cemetary before....I wonder what I'd find.

  19. I love reading headstones. Our leaves are falling here, too, and I was singing to myself today as we were bagging them up, " I feel the chill of an early fall"....only I don't feel a chill....just feel the crunchy leaves!

  20. I do like a headstone with a verse that tells you about the person who was, I've asked for mine to have 'If you're looking for Arlen, she's out with the dogs' LOL
We too have got the leaves dropping off the trees too soon, my lime tree has been shedding for a few weeks now, so sad, it doesn't seem as though they've only just set. |Sorry i'm a bit late replying.
