but we didn’t get snow, just a lot of wind; some winds gusting over 50 miles an hour yesterday. We dropped from the upper 60s to the mid 20s last night. And now I am thinking that Old Man Winter is waiting in the wings. I am not ready for that.
I am up early this morning, doing laundry, etc. My niece is coming over for lunch. She likes to watch Y & R with me. That show is all messed up now. Several of my favorites have been fired and more to come.
I am reading the new Virgil Flowers novel by John Sandford. http://www.johnsandford.org/books.html
MAD RIVER
SYNOPSIS · CHAPTER ONE · COMMENTS · COVER GALLERY · REVIEWS
“Bonnie and Clyde, they thought. And what's-his-name, the sidekick. Three teenagers with dead-end lives, and chips on their shoulders, and guns.
The first person they killed was a highway patrolman. The second was a woman during a robbery. Then, hell, why not keep on going? As their crime spree cuts a swath through rural Minnesota, some of it captured on the killers' cell phones and sent to a local television station, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator Virgil Flowers joins the growing army of cops trying to run them down. But even he doesn't realize what's about to happen next.”
And mentioning for the 100th time, Sandford is my favorite author. Minnesota readers, is there really a Mankato Minnesota?
Have a wonderful week. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
That sounds like a good read Beth I quite fancy that one, myself.
ReplyDeleteWet here light drizzle warmish though..Not looking forward to winter one bit.
Cookies chocolate chip with currents.
Enjoy your Week ahead.
Hugs Sheila x
Beth, My sister and I watch Y&R. It has gone to the dogs. It is raining here this morning, a cold rain. I am not ready for winter...I don't even like it any more , other than the fact that the cold kills off pests and germs. xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice day Beth! At one point I watched Y&R everyday, but I wouldn't want to get back into it because I feel it's only a matter of time before this one goes away as well.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time with your niece!

That really sounds interesting, and I'm not one for crime stories. May have to check it out. Darla and I watch Days of Our Lives. It has taken on the Gay controversy. Wonder how that will affect the viewers. They have been know in the past to take on controversial issues.
ReplyDeleteOHHH sounds like a great book! I don't think I've read any of his books, I'll have to pick it up at the library :).
ReplyDeleteHave a great lunch!
We got a little snow...it sure made a mess of things here...I've not missed it one darn bit to be honest. I'm in the middle of reading two books at the moment...I never used to do that but now here I am. Enjoy your day my friend.
ReplyDeleteNo snow here but flurries northward..I am not ready either..trying to be but it sure is depressing to see it come this year. Guess I got spoiled by how nice it was last fall. WHY oh WHY do they take a good show that is doing well and mess it up by FIRING the popular actors? Makes no sense to me either. Hope your day goes well. XOXO
ReplyDeleteHello Beth,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good book to read.
I am a book worm.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Be safe, happy & stay will... hugs
The weather is completely crazy warm one day and frigid the next. Your book sounds like a good one, enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWe are having rain here, along with falling temperatures. Not any snow in our forecast, though.
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds very suspenseful! It should keep you awake today.:)
Have a good Monday, Beth! xo Nellie
enjoy your day and your niece!
ReplyDeleteI am half way through To Kill a Mockingbird...can't even imagine what I thought of that book when I read it 35 yrs ago!
I'm with you girlfriend. No way am I ready for the cold and snow. Getting up at 3:30 every day isn't fun and if it snows and the plows haven't been out it isn't going to be fun driving. That book does sound good. I've never read any of his books but I might give him a try. I love to read crime stories and mostly read just true crime but every once in awhile I like to read a novel. John Grisham is another fav of mine but I am going to look for this book. Have a good evening Beth and take care.
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like an interesting book. I'll stay on the look out for it. Stay warm and enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI just started today The Devil's Code, the third book (and next to the last) in the Jason Kidd series. I do hope Sanford gives us some more Kidd in the future. I like him almost as much as Lucas Davenport! I think I've only read the first Virgil Flowers book but I will get there soon. I've managed to read over half of the Davenport books just this year. In fact, just finished Hidden Prey today.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's a real Mankato, Minnesota. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to watch All My Children and they did all kinds of stupid things to it the last few years, too. Got rid of main characters, ridiculous storylines, and even moved the whole show to LA from NY. They were going to move it online, but that fell through, too. I had watched it for over 40 years. Sad, but true. ;)
Been really cold up here! Bundle up! :)
I am so happy for you after all the time work so hard in your home. Enjoy reading nice book for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope long time keep it up for you!
Have a nice week ahead.
Thinking about you!
I am late - but I hope you had a nice lunch and got to watch your show! sandie
ReplyDeleteIsn't Mankato where Laura Ingalls Wilder (Little House on the Prairie) lived when they were in Minnesota?? I remember visiting there when our daughter was about 9 and reading the series and watching the TV show.
ReplyDeleteWatching Y+R alone:( B
ReplyDeleteI read blogs many times from my iPad and answer there but for some reason, I can NEVER answer yours. I type and nothing shows up. Not on other bloggies, just yours Twin. You have invisible ink there? Or did you spread it on the comment box?
ReplyDeleteWe got way too much wind and snow, mother natures is really "storming" on our parade!
ReplyDeleteJohn Sandford is wonderful. Me
ReplyDeleteHope you had a nice lunch with your niece. Your Veteran's Day memorial post was nice.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good read. I've never read any of his books.
ReplyDeleteI have such a long list of books to read!!!
Sounds like a book I need to read.. Stay warm.. We're now getting in on the cold..It moved on East.. Blessings, Susie
ReplyDeleteI smile about your Young and Restless show. It's like my Mom and her Days of Lives:)
ReplyDeleteCold down here too now...I don't want winter !! lol
ReplyDeleteI too watch Y&R and as much for the fact that that's when I finally make myself sit down and put my feet up. It's nothing like it used to be...
Love John Sanford--will have to look for that book.
Stay warm and dry, sweetie....it's gonna be a long winter...
