A lovely Sunday morning…

checking in right now at 14 degrees and sunshine in the heart of Illinois.  I love to say ‘heart of Illinois.’  Where I lived for over 50 years before I moved here was in east central Illinois close to the Indiana border.  No melodic  ring to ‘east central’ like there is to ‘heart of.’    Clouds are to roll in later.

Winter has just begun and it feels like it has been winter for months now.  Soon I will start my countdown to Spring which I have done each year since I have been blogging.

Wildflower bed 2002 b

This is a picture of the wildflower bed that we had planted by the garage at home.  I love the poppies and bachelor buttons, so beautiful!

I hope you all have a blessed Sunday!  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. A good morning to you Beth. Your garden is beautiful. Wish I had more sun in my backyard to plant more flowers like this. Our winter has not been too bad so far...one big snow and cold temps. Have a great day.

  2. Good Morning, Beth. We awoke to 28. Jan/Feb are always dreary months for me. I, too, look forward to spring. This is a nice photo of the poppies and BB's. I miss our flower beds at the old house. I'm thankful to have preserved the memories in pictures.
    Have a good day.

  3. Your colorful flower garden is gorgeous!
It is 24F in North West Arkansas right now and calling for a high of 44F today. I Love the 'winters' here. Living in Canada for most of my life, I look at the winters here as late fall which is my favorite season. The summers here in Arkansas are way too hot and way too humid....

  7. I love these very beautiful poppies and wildflowers. I meant to plant a border of them. I can't do gardening any more so perhaps I'll scatter the seeds amongst the weeds. That should be a good idea....thanks for that. happy New Year to you and yours. Joan

  8. Hi Beth -- we are off to a chilly start this Sunday out here in Arizona. I love the picture of your beautiful flowers...reminds me a a lovely bachelor button garden we had for several years by the mail box of our home in down state Illinois (Fairview Heights). I loved the blue, purple, pink and while bachelor buttons that reseeded and came up by themselves each spring! Can't get them to stay alive in the hot Arizona summers. Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful day.

  30. What a colourful flower display Beth, even though poppies are a wild flower, it is surely one of the most beautiful, I just love them, We too have felt that winter has just been almost a continuation of last year, as we've now officially, had the wettest year ever, and it's cold. oh well, maybe next year.

  35. I did absolutely nothing on New Years eve. It's fairly cold now but real cold weather from Cananda will be here shortly and we will be down to the teens and single digits before you know it. Oh yeah it's winter. Happy New Year Beth.

  36. Oh my has another year almost gone and soon your spring countdown will remind of us of warm weather ahead. Well I am starting spring early and heading to the desert next week to spend the rest of the winter. I do love the snow here, but we tend to hibernate and not see anyone for weeks at a time. So at least down south we are social.
