Monday, a brighter day…

Thank you all for the comments on my short post yesterday.  I have pulled myself together and am focusing on the here and now.  I offer my prayers for the lost children and brave adults and see many new bright stars shining in the sky.  Thank you all for praying with me for my sister’s surgery tomorrow.  I feel God will be holding her hand and all will be well.

I was awake early this morning.  I have changed the bedding, started the laundry and put the turkey in the bottom of the fridge to thaw.  My son is coming Saturday and I have a lot of cooking to do on Thursday and Friday.  It will all come together and there will be lots of leftover.  I am looking forward to the mashed potatoes, dressing and gravy.  I am not much on turkey and ham is a big  no no for my BP.  But you know I will have a little piece anyway.

It is cold and dreary out this morning at 36 degrees.  We have been issued our first winter storm warning for Thursday with up to 3 inches of snow.  That doesn’t  sound too bad but  factor in the blowing wind and it could get iffy.  I will have to go to the store early on Friday morning for last minute things.

I hope you all have a Blessed week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Glad you are feeling better today Beth. Say your prayers and then get on with your preparations for your son's visit. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time with him. Be careful driving on the winter roads!

  4. I would love to see a little snow. The kind that falls beautifully on the trees and ground, yet stays off the roads! Maybe I'm wishing the impossible! Stay save and enjoy your day!

  5. Good Monday morning, Beth! We LOVE turkey! I plan to have a turkey breast at some point when the family is finally here.:-)

As a retired elementary teacher, I have felt a bit of closeness to the events of the past few days. I just cannot imagine the pain that all those affected are experiencing. I pray for God's strength and comfort for all!

Peace and joy to you, Beth, during this season of honoring the birth of Jesus.

  17. Dear Beth...I pray your sis will be safe...
Like you, I turned the tv off because .....well.....you know.

So glad you are preparing for a happy time with family. We will have our family gathering on Christmas Eve, is our tradition. We generally have fun foods...and lots of cookies, candies and maybe a cake or two thrown in. My freezer holds some mighty fine cookies right now. :)

  19. We are not a big fan of turkey either but I do love ham and we have pork and prawns for Christmas Day along with a salad and baked potatos and I usually do a potato bake.

Gppd to hear you are feeling more up today

  20. Hi Beth. I'm so glad you're feeling better! And you're doing exactly the right thing....living in the here and now. That's all any of us can do...and should do. I'm happy your son is coming home, too. Whenever we have a turkey dinner...I only want all the sides! Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, green beans, salads, etc....and of course, Dessert!! :)
And one more thing...I'm so envious of your snow prediction! We're barely supposed to have flurries... :(

  27. You sound like you're up and running Beth and ready to go, I'm sure you'll find once you get started on Christmas festivities you'll find inner strength to cope and make a wonderful hostess.
I hope your sister will be fine .

  28. Hi Beth,

I have been feeling, like many, the same as you. I wish there were answers for this kind of thing but it is happening more and more. Gun control/no gun control. How long will this go on? How many more innocent lives will be lost? I'm angry by all of this needless and selfish violence. The worst part for me is seeing their faces. It's quite personal here for me as Gabriela Giffords was shot along with many others(who were killed...including a little girl) last year, the movie theater shootings at the Batman premiere, University killings(one here at the UA several years ago on several nurses), and the list goes on and on. I'll leave it at that....but I'm angry. So many good people lost because of whack jobs having access to guns.
