My furnace has been running for 2 days now , (knock on wood). Someone finally came a few minutes ago and picked up the space heaters that were here. I hope it continues to work properly!!
Have any of you ever had a doctor that was overbearing and treated you like a small child? That is the description of my cardiologist (aka Dr. God). This morning he spouted off so much nonsense that I just said thank you Dr. God. He smiled and said oh that is nice and I said, I didn’t mean it as a compliment. It didn’t even phase him. He has told me on numerous occasions that my kidney/bp doctor is the doctor in charge of my meds. Today he changed my meds again. I feel just like a puppet and one doctor or the other is pulling the strings. He said with one breath, pacemaker soon and then turned right around and contradicted himself. Why you ask do I have him as my cardiologist? He is in my doctor group and he has an office here in town so that means that I can go by myself to see him.
Anyway, I guess I am in somewhat of a bad mood. I don’t do well when my meds get jerked around. I have wished so many times that I had my old doctors back from home. Well, it has been said that one can never go home again and that is so very true!
I have another doctor appointment in the morning, this one in Peoria.
Sorry for the downer post. I hope you all have a very nice weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Hope you get your meds adjusted soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Beth. Nothing worse than know-it-doctors! Well, I guess that could be a good thing if they really DID know it all and how to CURE it all! But it'd be nice if they had a little compassion and a good bedside manner! Grrrr. Hope you get it all worked out. On the bright side - - you aren't freezing!!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you haven't had a good experience at the doctor today. Hopefully there will be no problems adjusting to the new meds.
ReplyDeletexo Nellie
Hmmmm...that is a connundrum. If you have any trouble with the meds, perhaps you'll consider pursuing it even if it does mean someone's help and a little more travel. It might well be worth it. Sounds as if you need to watch a fun program or movie and have some chamomile tea. I'm available. Packing up the tea pot now...
ReplyDeletecontradicting doctor treatments are very frustrating - and scary! good luck!
ReplyDeleteI don't like my doctor much either--she has zero personality and can never answer my questions. I was forced to go to her because she was on our insurance plan. Now we don't have insurance so I can't even go to a doctor. Hope they get your meds straight and that things get better for you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry things did not go well, it's just so difficult to have medical problems these day! You would think with all the advances in technology and medicine, things would be easier! Try to relax and enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYes, we've known a few like your dr. We often come away with more questions than answers. They continually change John's meds around and it gets confusing and expensive when they do that. Praying all goes well for you tomorrow and also that your heat continues to run well.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of the change in meds. Sometimes it feels like we are just guinea pigs in the hands of the doctors, I think. Hope you have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeth, I hate when drs. do not speak with your other drs. They need to. I tell my g.p. ...my goal is less meds, not more. I take 3 pills a day. bummer. Maybe before you fill your scripts, you could talk with your other drs. to see if the meds will work. Good luck whatever you do. I understand your anger...we are paying more for less service.xo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOh, Beth! I feel so bad for you. I totally understand. It is so hard sometimes, just trying to cope with "it is what it is". Hugs. Hope for a better tomorrow, & new year.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Beth,
ReplyDeleteI would hate all that messing about, do hope your doc's communicate soon and get you on the right meds. No wonder you are not in a good mood.
May the new year bring better news.
Hugs Nita.
Okay Sis..Primary does BP and etc general things and the specialist does the others. Mom's kidney specialist took PRIORITY because of her condition. She had a lung dr, ENT,and a cardilogist..it sure is hard juggling them all. I wish you luck with it all. Best you tell them what you think and never let up. Hugs to you I know it is frustrating. XOXO
ReplyDeleteTwin, it seems we are both having a turn in the barrel. Sooner or later it WILL get better. I know it will.
ReplyDeleteLots of love
I hope things go well with the doctor tomorrow, Beth and that they can get your meds straightened out. I can see why your are frustrated.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Barb
Fingers crossed on the furnace.
ReplyDeleteDr. GOD! What a great idea for television series. A young Dr. God, just out of medical school, ever present halo above his head ,checks someones blood preasure and signs a medical chart. NBC Thursday 9pm. Maybe a Cop? GODJACK!
In case I don't get a chance, Happy New Year Beth. I could not ask for a better friend.
Maybe you should think about finding another doctor even if it means having someone take you. He sounds perfectly awful.
ReplyDeleteTo bad I don't live near you, I'd bring you myself!! : )
I sure hope you get it straightened out. I know the feeling. We had a wonderful doctor for 17 years and then she got promoted over a lot of MD's in a large group. The new one just keeps having us see her nurse practitioner. She probably doesn't like the lower payments for Medicare. When we were both ill for 4 weeks with Pneumonia for 4 weeks last month, we really wished we could have the first one. I may have found another one. She isn't a specialist but she really cares and she makes sense. I hope you have a better experience tomorrow. Good luck. BGB
ReplyDeleteHow awful. You need a doctor you can trust and respect. One that makes you feel like you are in charge of your own decisions. I would say to look for someone even if it means someone else driving you there. If you don't feel "safe" with him you will not do well under his care. God bless you and I hope your appt tomorrow goes a whole lot better- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHugs for you Beth! That doctor sounds very conceited.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the doc problems you are having. I would be in a bad mood too. I hope you cheer up and meet me on the sunnyside.
ReplyDeleteMy 91-year-old mom's cardiologist also thinks he's God and he is condescending and rude. I've actually had him turn and walk away in the middle of a conversation so he could answer his damn cell phone. Maybe it comes with the specialty! I'm glad you talked back to this ass! It's about time somebody gave him some of his own medicine!
ReplyDeleteGoing to the doctor is never that much fun and when a doctor isn't well versed in bedside manor so to speak it's makes an already difficult situation worse. I hope that tomorrow's appointment goes better for you my friend, hang in there.
ReplyDeleteBeth....you can refuse to change your meds. YOU know if they are working for you.
ReplyDeleteI have refused before. They WILL continue to see you if you want to see them. Just explain to him that what you are on is working for you. I used to think that if you didn't do what they tell you to do they wouldn't see you again. That isn't so.
My own dad refused to do what his cardiologist wanted him to do, and his dr. kept seeing him. My dad had just had it with operations and refused to have any more.
I know you said you were feeling better with the meds they last put you on. Just refuse to change. Stand up to him.
Oh yes! Dagan's first pediatric cardiologist had a God complex, but he was really good at what he did so I put up with him. I set him off a few times when I disagreed with him or made comments that had to do with faith (he'd take that as an attack on science and medicine--LOL!). Specialists seem to be the ones who have the worst tendencies toward arrogance--LOL! Not all of them, though. I think most of them are pretty decent. Too bad you can't find another one you could get to easily. If he's good at what he does and you trust his arrogant opinions and decisions--then it's easier to blow off the God complex. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think most of us have had to deal with an arrogant doctor at some point, at my local GP surgery there is this one GP who is a right arrogant prick and I will not see him unless I really have to see someone and he is the only one available.
ReplyDeleteSpecialists are in league of their own when it comes to thinking they are God and some can be so rude at times.
I'm with on that one Beth, I have had a few upsets with my Doctor, (maybe not the quite the right word) Changing BP meds.
ReplyDeleteLong story ....
Hope that Furnace stays on , they came out on Christmas Day , not sure if they would do that here.mm...Happy for you though.
Stay warm hope the storms are around you , and safe.
Hugs Sheila xx
Doctors can be very frustrating to work with. I hope you can get some resolution and maybe even find a new doctor who is more understanding and compassionate. You will be in my prayers today. It is good that your heat is back on and keeping you warm! Have a better day today.
ReplyDeleteHello Beth, Don't worry about the downer posts or the bad mood. Doctors sometimes do that to us. Hope your furnace will keep going.Good luck with your Doctors app. Prayers and Hugs, Anna
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you, Beth, for talking down to the 'dr,god'. Please check out the drugs and see what is causing your problems. Drugs cause health problems and pads the 'demi-gods' pockets. Sorry for the rant.
ReplyDeleteOh that is just wrong of that doctor! I hate docs like that! I'm sorry he was a turd.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear about the furnace!
I'll keep you in my prayers for the next doc apt!
Tomorrow is another day Beth, let's hope it's a better one, keep warm X
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're between a rock and a hard place! I would have had a hissy fit if a doctor was so arrogant and talked to me with a condescending attitude. Sure hope you will have a resolution to the medicine situation - soon. No one likes to be treated as only a number. Be strong.
ReplyDeleteOh Beth, I'm so sorry you're having Dr. issues. There's nothing more annoying than a condescending Dr. I hope the new year brings better times and Drs..
ReplyDeleteIt must be so frustrating for you to get bounced back and forth. SO sorry.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Beth, I can so relate to every word in your blog. Unfortunately I don't have any wise words of wisdom. Another doctor would be nice, but if he's the only doctor in your group, you are stuck. I had quite a time with my neurologist too. Now I write him a letter once a week with all the symptoms of my new drugs. I actually think he appreciated the letter because everything was documented, and I'm sure he read the last one anyway because he changed my drugs and it took him 4 days to get back to me through his nurse. LOL! If you would be comfortable with it,I'd recommend taking a friend with you - extra ears.
