Sunshine and 50 degrees…

on this Friday afternoon in the heart of Illinois.  Yes, where I live is called the heart of Illinois.  Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it?  We are under a winter weather advisory for Saturday afternoon and evening for freezing rain changing to snow.  Oh Yuck, I just got my car all cleaned off from the last snow.

I have been busy this morning.  I can’t seem to stay away from the grocery store.  I try to limit myself but I get carried away.  At Food Depot this morning my cash register receipt showed that I saved over $35  on this shopping trip.  I was surprised to see that Food Depot is still carrying all kinds of Green Giant canned veggies for 49 cents a can.  I don’t use many canned goods and I am pretty well stocked up.  I also got the large size box of Post Raisin Bran for $1.67.  I thought that was quite a bargain and that was without a coupon too.

There is not much news around here today.  Several of you asked for updates on my sister and my niece.  My sister is doing well except that she has caught a cold.  I am hoping that is all it is and not the flu.  My niece came home from the hospital today and she is doing well.  Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.  I do believe that prayer can move a mountain.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!  Don’t forget the tips for avoiding the flu.  And if you haven’t got a flu shot yet, what are you waiting for?

Beth

  1. Beth, It is like spring here today. I walked to the mailbox with my eyes closed and letting the sun shine on my face. Loved it. It's so warm it's scary . We have had single digit temperatures and now almost 60 degrees in a matter of a week. The world seems to be changing. Hope you stay safe and enjoy your weekend. xoxo,Susie

  2. It was a chilly 28 today when I took the boys to school.

I do the same when I go shopping, I try so hard to stick to my list but then something catches my eye or the boys want something ...lol

    Have a great weekend!

  7. I wish I could order groceries online from your grocery store. I pay 99 cents for most of my vegies, sometimes more. That's what happens when there are only two choices in town.

So glad to hear your relatives are doing well. I have never had a flu shot, and don't intend to ever get one. Neither does my hubby. So far, we haven't had it.

  8. That sounds like a good place to shop for food. Your prices seem lower than ours. We do have a warehouse type food store also - Woodmans. Prices are so much cheaper there also. I've been getting flu shots for the past 20 years. Wouldn't go a year without it. I'm still extra cautious anyway and carry wipes with me in addition to all the hand washing. We're also staying away from crowds - especially in the movie theater.

  9. Hi Beth, My husband insists that he and I and our teenaged son get flu shots every year. It really goes a long way toward keeping us all healthy! Hubby and I are teachers and are exposed to lots of sickness but yearly flu shots and lots of hand sanitizer really helps. I haven't had the flu for years (knock on wood!) Have a nice weekend and stay warm!

  14. Why is it that food costs so much money and often the food that doesn't cost a lot is the food no one wants to eat......so really good that you got some bargins......

  16. blessings...
I am so jealous of how you all get to use coupons there, you get a lot of good mileage off of it and so much savings. here in Canada they don't double up on coupons or in store sales+coupons they say you can only use one and usually its like 10 cents - $1 off, "oooh" please....Am jealous. Its wonderful if one clip coupons they can virtually get stuff for free and all is needed is sweat equity.

I hope you don't get the freezing rain today. We had rain yesterday but it quite before the temps dropped. Today is sunny and cold.
