Expensive Oil Change…

Why is it each time I go to the car dealer for an oil change they find other things wrong?  Granted my car is nine years old with almost 86,000 miles on it and I did ask them to check it over good.  I do not want to get out on the road and have something go wrong.  Anyway, today I am almost $500 poorer.

It was HOT yesterday.  89 degrees with bright sunshine.  My daughter put the new floor mats in my car that she and Mike got me for Mother’s Day.  It was so hot being out in the sun.  And did we ever have a time getting the 4 place mats apart that were stapled together with heavy duty staples.  But they are in the car now and they look really nice.

I have another doctor appointment this morning that I will be glad to get over with as it has been bothering me for some time.  I would appreciate a kind thought this morning at 10AM CDST.

Time to get off of the computer and go and have my breakfast.

Have a blessed day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. wow! 9 years old with only 89,000 miles on it! that is awesome. They prey on the ederly and women. Once we had just purchased a used Explorer, and I took it to a place for its first oil change since I had owned it. The car has less then 30,000. but suddenly the differential fluid needed changing.. I called Senior and he said NO WAY- you only change that closeer to 75,000-100,000. Or if you go off roading a lot.. Enjoy that warm weather..I know you deserve it up there...

  3. Sorry about the car cost. It just never seems to let up. It worries me that our suburban may start to nickel and dime us being 2005.

Sending prayers and good thoughts with you for your doctors appointment.

  4. Aren't car issues scarey? I am so lucky that my sister is the biggest "gear head" I know so I can always ask her-if need be she calls my local place to "straighten" them out. ;-0

  10. I know what you mean about the car situation. I wish I were wealthy enough to get a new one every time the warrantees expired...dream on I guess. It's almost the same for us in weather...a bit cooler today with a high of 81...just gorgeous though too dry they say. Have a blessed doctor visit my friend.

  11. Beth, I am late reading your post...you will be in my prayers. Some times cars can make us crazy. I always ask for the old part once I go in to pay the bill. My father told me to do this...to see if they really changed something. Once I got back the window lowering mechanism...the part that was broken was about a 69 cent piece of plastic and they charged me 465 dollars...because they changed to whole mechanism. But I know full well they would have used the motor to repair someone elses car. When getting your oil changed, get different brand names on the filter each time...then you can check. xoxo,Susie

  13. Wow Beth, that must of hurt, and 'twas a very expensive oil change. Hope from now on your car works perfectly. (Mayhap you should give it a name, and talk to it sweetly?... or , if you're like me you already do!! ) I hope to goodness your appointment went ok.. I got here late so my wishes and thoughts are a tad overdue, but still meant. I hate those stapes thingy's, I've cut myself time and time again undoing them with scissors or a screwdriver. Hugs aplenty and all best wishes to you and yours... xPenx

  15. It is hard to trust the car dealers.
Ken is very handy with cars and changes the oil in our cars himself.

Hope all goes well at the doctors.

  16. First let me say, I hope you're appointment went good and I love the look of your Blog. It cost an arm and a leg to keep a car on the road. Here in N.C. they steal us blind. Inspection stickers, taxes and so many things before you can even get a License Plate.. You're in my prayers. xo

  20. So behind on visiting you.. hope things went well at the appointment. I stopped taking it to the dealer many years back..I found they always want to add things onto the car it does not need. I take mine to those places for an oil change and they TELL me IF I need something done. Hope the heat doesn't get you down too much. Take care Sis.. :-)
