Appointments set…

I have finally got all of my pre-op appointments set  up.  I will have an in hospital stay of 3 or 4 days for surgery to remove lymph nodes and radiation next month on the 23rd.  Then 2 weeks later I will go in hospital again for more radiation treatments. Thank you again for all of your prayers.

I saw the oncologist here in town yesterday.  I am now in the hands of the radiation oncologist and the surgeon in Peoria.  Still I have to do follow-up visits with all of the doctors.  My opinion of quite a few  of the doctors has slid downhill lately.  We are just a number to them and they even have a problem remembering your name.  I will miss you Dr.  D.

It has been very hot and summerlike here the past few days even though  Summer doesn’t officially arrive for a few days.  I am trying to keep up with my housework and dealing with some ants on the outside.  I was informed by maintenance that it was my responsibility to take care of that problem.  My water heater sprung a leak on Saturday morning and I was without hot water until yesterday morning.  That didn’t help my mood any.

But the flowers I planted around the light pole at the end of the driveway look pretty good despite the squirrels digging in them.

And across the driveway my neighbor Barb planted a marigold arrangement around her light pole.

If you click on the pictures they will be larger.

My niece in West Virginia and her husband renewed their wedding vows last weekend.  I heard from all accounts that it was beautiful.  I wish I could have been there.  Congrats to John and Dee.

  4. Sis I Do KNOW what you say about being a number and not a name.. I made a point of MAKING Dr.'s remember my mom..she was memorable but BOY..I made SURE they knew who she was and they were to call her by her right name, not something they THOUGHT was her name. Having a serious illness makes you aware of how things work for sure. I am praying everyday for you and KNOW things will be okay. You are a cherished friend and I know God will be looking out for you. Enjoy the cool weather we have as the Heat will be coming back soon. Take care.. XO XO

  5. Hi Beth,

I am so sorry you have all this to go through. Guess it is good to know the appointments and I hope they will all go well for you. It is hard when you have to part company with a doctor you like and trust. I still miss the Doctor in North London, who treated me, quite a few years back for depression and high blood pressure. I have just registered with a different doctor here, because the one I had in another part of Stevenage, was just becoming such a hassle to get to from here. I love to be surrounded by beautiful flowers too, it is always uplifting for me to watch them grow and bloom.

    Take Care, Hugs Nita.

  6. It's a shame that it seems RARE to find a doctor who actually seems to CARE about his/her patients. I know the feeling. But it must be hard to be an oncologist and have to deal with such seriously sick people all the time. What a bummer. But, it must be so exhilarating to be able to see a seriously sick person come through it all and enjoy life again too. Hang in there, Beth. We all have such a short time in this world, and every second counts---:). YOU are special and a wonderful friend to us all! Never forget that (or how to laugh and smile!).

  12. You accept your health and what lies ahead to take care of it with so much grace! I know that many people live with this and not only survive but thrive, and wish the same for you. We all have so much to rejoice in, in the midst of the medical challenges of our friends and families. Be well.

  36. Good to hear the pre opp has been set up and that you will only be in hospital for a few days, then more and more doctor appointments for years to come and I know what you mean when they can't remember your name it is just annoying and rude often they will have it written if front of them but some are to lazy to look at your name I know how I feel when I get called by the wrong name......yes the flowers in the light pole do look nice......
