Wednesday, all day long…but now it is Thursday

I wrote this post yesterday morning, went to check on my laundry and found the internet service down.  This was yesterday morning about 7:30 and when I went to bed at 10 last night the internet was still down.  And that is my Thursday rant.  Do you think anything will be deducted from my cable bill?  LOL  Thursday is my grocery shopping day.  I will be back to visit you all later this morning.

***********

It is a chilly morning but to warm to the upper 70s today.  The sun is shining while I am scurrying around trying to do laundry.  My laundry room is only a few feet from my front door.

Since this is Wednesday Rant Day I thought it might be a good time to mention for the 1000th time that I miss not having a washer and dryer and especially a water softener.  Oh, yes, while I am at it I will mention again how much I miss my two car garage and the ease of driving around in a little town.  I miss the fitness center where I worked out, right alongside the mayor (who lived 1/2 block from me) and the biggies who owned half the town and half of main street too.  I miss my friends and neighbors.  It has been hard making friends here.  My neighbors are all nice and if I ask a favor of any one of them they are Johnny on the spot but it is not the same as your friends of many years.

But, I realize that I am better off here where I am now.  I got my house sold and myself moved while I was still in good health.  I need to be close to family now.  What would I do without them?
There are benefits to living in a larger city.  Every kind of fast food you can imagine and every brand of pizza!  I am partial to Pizza Hut but I love Papa Murphy’s double stuffed pizza.  There is a huge Wal*mart and a K Mart here.  Right down the road a few miles is a large riverboat casino.  I rarely go there because I have no luck with anything like that.

So this is my Wednesday rant.  I am really not complaining as I am so thankful to be alive.
Below is a picture of a tree that was in my front yard at home and a very happy fat squirrel just eating away.  Jim loved watching the squirrels and he fixed the feeding seats for them

Have a good rant day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  2. Love the squirrel feeders. I can't imagine moving away from my area. Lived here on the street all my life. Fortunately, since my family is all right here, I may never have to find that out. Hope you day is a really good one. HUG

  3. I know how hard it is to change---it seems to get harder the older we get. I hope you are able to visit your old place from time to time to keep in touch with those friends and relive those days. My hat's off to you for doing the move yourself and making your way in the big city. I, too, don't like big cities and am quite content in small towns. Enjoy the fall colors and I hope you can get outside for brisk walks in the mornings!

  5. My Thur rant. I am not a fan of squirels. Sorry. They eat the birds feed and That cost more just for them.I like the birs to have the seeds. Also a grey squirrel beginning of summer last year attacked me. Jumped on my chair outside and then he came close to my face.Chased a neighbor upstairs to her balcony.

Found out by a neighbor. He was rabbied.

So no I really dislike squirrels.

  6. Wednesday is rant day? How is it that I have not yet heard of this? I love to rant. Ha! We must learn more and more flexibility the older we get. Somehow this does not seem fair. Cute squirrel!

  12. I certainly know how you feel, Beth. We miss certain things about our old home but we know we are in the best place for this time in our lives. God has been good to allow us to have reached this place. I'm glad you shared the fat squirrel enjoying the feeders Jim made. Photos have a way of reminding us of simple joys from the past.

  13. We are a week into OUR new home, too...and altho it's not HOME to us yet, it is mighty close. 'Course, we are in the same town and right behind our son and his family with our daughter just 9 miles from us.....and all my old friends are right here, too....so all this makes a big difference.
I hope you will feel "at home" before too much longer. It's really hard to make a serious change at our olden age. :(

  14. The squirrel feeders are so cute. That is one well fed one in the photo.
I know it was hard for you to sell your house. You made a wise decision to be close to your daughter. I miss back home too but the few times I went back it had changed way too much. It is best for me to stick to memories.

  15. I've moved a few times in my life but I have lived in the same city my whole life. I can't imagine not being close to my lifelong friends. You're a tough gal Beth. You'll do fine.
Could be Cards and Sox! We owe you guys!

  16. Ranting is healthy and cathartic. At least that's always been my philosophy on it. Living in a big city does have its perks yes. I think I will always be a country feller though :)

  18. I laughed at your header, Beth! I remember it from last year! That witch must have a REAL headache!

It is a good thing that you have such good memories of your years before you moved. Jim was very clever to design those feeding seats for the squirrels. I've never seen anything like that!

I hope your Thursday has been a good one.

    xo Nellie

  20. Last year during Hurricane Sandy we were without power for 5 days and all I kept thinking was that our electric bill was going to be really low the next month. It wasn't. Glad everything is back up and running.

  21. I Love how you ranted - got it out of your system and then looked for the positive. And no - don't count on a penny from your cable co.

It is good to vent, Beth. Holding things in is unhealthy. Glad you are okay! Hugs.

  26. What a pain about the internet :( glad it's up now for you.

I'm glad your closer to family, but it still can be a bummer missing all the things you had before.

I just that squirrel, what a life ;)

  27. I feel for you having moved Beth, I too would hate it, I love where I live, the walks, the village, my garden, the memories most of all, but I expect one day I too may have to give it up, though hopefully not for many years.

  30. I hate it when the internet isn't working, it is amazing to think that there was a time we had no internet, was only talking to my niece Kelli about how we can remember how terrible it was when we had dial up instead of broadband and how as soon as the phone rang the internet dropped out.......

  31. We have done well with our Internet in spite of the company changing hands many times...guess I should be very thankful. Billings is a great town with enough people to have the comforts of home yet not be too big. I understand your longing for the things you've left but you do seem to have such a great attitude. Bless you my friend.
