An official rant day and…

the countdown till spring has reached 50 days.  We are almost through with the month of January,   I can’t say that I will be sad to see it end.  It has been nothing but snow and bitter cold here since the end of November.  I have done nothing but eat and sleep and eat and sleep and eat and sleep.  I have almost gained back all of the weight that I lost last summer during my cancer treatment.  I have only ventured outdoors to clean the snow off my car and run errands for the past 2 months.  I can just about count these times on one hand.  My usually sunny nature is somewhat tarnished and I am beginning to look at the postman with a jaundiced eye.

And….I am beginning to have this awful fear of putting anything important in the mail wondering if it will get to its destination.  I can certainly understand why the postal service is going broke.  It is very poorly managed.  A check on the status of my package shows that it is still in Hazelwood MO today, January 29,  still being processed.  You know Hazelwood MO is only 18.3 miles from where my brother and his wife live in O’Fallon IL.  I think I should call him and ask him if he will drive over to the sorting facility and bring the package to me.  It would only be a 360 mile round trip for him.  I am waiting with baited breath to see where my package ends up next.  Rae thinks the next stop will be Houston Texas but I was more inclined to  think that it is destined to be in the process of being processed through the Hazelwood MO sorting facility forever.

It has warmed up to 5 degrees here this morning.  I am planning a grocery run when it warms up a few more degrees.  That is if my car will start.  I haven’t started it since Sunday as it as been too cold to venture out.

Have a great day everyone.  Don’t forget to check in tomorrow for an update on my package.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Happy Wednesday, Beth. I have a package that has been "out for delivery" for two days. Hopefully it will be here soon.:-) I hope your car will start for you. I made a stop at the store yesterday on my way back home, which was earlier than I had anticipated due to the snow that had begun to fall. xo Nellie

  2. Wow, hope your package comes soon. I have only been out 4 times since Christmas. Just can't bring myself to brazen that cold.

  3. Hm. Gotcha beat by one degree.

We had about 4 inches of snow but it was, as always, the icy kind. No one made it but a little ways up my street. The operative word here is up. I thought two cars would take out my fence as they slid toward it. But luckily, one human hair's width between them whacking my chain link fence and not. So, the fence escaped! I have dug the car loose and cleared it off. I MaY try to go down the hill later in the day.
That is horrible about your package. I read about that yesterday here. Gees. MY postman is OK, but we have had plenty here in my neighborhood who leave letters in the street..in other mailboxes and who knows how much you miss. xxoox

  6. Beth, I can feel your pain. This winter is kicking butt , big time. I tell you, that is why I love having sunny days , even if the wind bites right through my clothes. I love getting mail...but feel sad if it's just junk mail and nothing fun to read. Please don't give up dear friend....we will all have to cheer each other up. Warm hugs to you. xoxo,Susie

  7. Well with this cold, we can all get a little prickly. Toss in a package that is going in circles and it's not hard to understand why. Time to sing every cheering song you know! Either that or take a cozy nap.

  8. I got a tracking ap for my i-touch and noticed how silly management of delivery is. It was actually in our city prepared for delivery yet still sat an extra day for no apparent reason...ridiculous. The weather is oppressive. I'm fortunate to live where it's not the fiasco it is in the south but still it's very tiresome.

  9. awwww beth, i sure hope it shows up soon!!

and i really hope your car started. we got our boys remote starters for their cars this past christmas and they love them. you can start the car from indoors, and warm it up. or just start it each day, so it will start when you need it to.

  10. Hi Beth

Really hope you receive your package, that is so frustrating. 50 days still seems too long, but I will be pleased to see the end of January too, Having a bit of a in the doldrums day today myself, I am sure everything will look brighter and seem easier to cope with in the spring/summer. 11. I just can't imagine what they are doing with your package and why such a round about way of routing it. Totally does not make sense. Yes, that's why they are losing money! Well friend, 50 days sounds better than 10 days ago when it was 60 days. Woohoo - we're getting closer.

  12. I don't know if I agree with that totally - all companies and people make mistakes. I heard that in Pony Express time the cost of a letter was $2 - so the prices have gone down! lol I think they are going down - because of the technology!

  22. Yup it's me. Well it's been balmy here it went up to 29 today. It started at 15 when I awoke. Glad to here you are gaining the weight back. My team didn't make the Super Bowl so I really don't care who wins the big game. I'm glad I don't live in Atlanta. C'mon June 1ST!
