And the countdown begins…

Just think it is only 77 more days till Spring.  I have counted down the days till spring each year since I have been blogging.  I usually don’t start this early but this season winter started in November with snow and bitter cold…and it just keeps on coming,  I woke up this morning to more snow and bitter cold temps again.  I am not a fan of snow or cold and I know that some parts of the country have it much worse than here.  The northern part of the state where my son lives has really been pounded with the snow, some of it lake effect.

I haven’t done anything productive so far in this new year.  I don’t make resolutions because I don’t keep them and then I feel guilty.  I look around and I see things that need to be done and then I pretend that I am Scarlett O’Hara and  say I will think about that tomorrow.  And we all know that tomorrow never comes, there is only today.  I have errands that I need to run, a couple of bills to pay and definitely a trip to the grocery store.  That will have to wait as maintenance just used the snow blower on my back sidewalk again and blew the snow up against the tires on my car.   I will try to get out later this morning and clean the car off.

It is still snowing out but the sun is trying to shine so maybe the snow is almost done for today.  This is the time of the year when it would be nice to live in Arizona.

Enough ranting for today and this is Thursday instead of Wednesday which is the official rant day.

I hope it is not snowing where you are today and the sun is shining and the temperature is warm.  I think I am talking to my friends in Australia  because most of the United States is under a massive storm warning today affecting millions of people.

Wherever you are, just be glad to be alive and Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Take care of yourself, Beth! Yes, it does seem that winter began early this year! November gave us the storms that just kept coming! There has really been very little letup for much of the United States. Where we are, we have yet to see the first snow flurry. Enjoy the warmth of your house! xo Nellie

  2. Ah 77 days, sounds so nice and so near , yet so far when its this cold lol...No snow here just blistering cold and rain ugh. I cant remember when I last saw the sun either, which is quite depressing around here, especially when you tend to be solar powered ! Maybe the cold wouldn't be so bad if we had a few rays this way. Hope you get your car shoveled out soon, the ony thing worse then no sun, is being cooped up with no sun !

  7. 77 days doesn't really seem that long, so that has cheered me up. Actually we don't have snow, it has been a sunny day today, but the wind was cold. At this time of year it is difficult not to be Scarlettish about things.
    Happy New Year to you.

  8. Winter did start way too early. I'll depend on you to keep track of the days until spring. The sun is shining brightly today but there is lots of snow on the ground and it's -20F

  9. Good Morning Beth, We got more snow last night and it is bitter cold. The temperature is a whopping 3 degrees, but the wind chill is below zero. My driveway has been bladed, the steps shoveled, and I am staying put. I shall just talk with hubby by phone. The sun is trying to shine and tomorrow they say it will be 33 degrees, predicting more snow on Saturday. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  15. Spring! Ah, what a wonderful thought. Started thinking about it around Thanksgiving. As you know I'm north and believe me it's freezing. I think I've turned into a popsiscle. You keep warm and take care.

  16. Right now we are snowed in. Our complex is not going to be clean until tomorrow afternoon. I do not have an SUV so I am going to stay put.

  18. Sigh! well, I guess 77 is better than 100!l This is an unusually harsh winter for almost everyone - us included. We're below zero every night with wind chills -30 - dangerous to say the least. The snow, so far, has mostly been falling to the south of us this past week (like where your son lives. he he - tell him I'm sorry). Our Packers play a playoff game on Sunday - it should be about -10 outside for a high and who knows where the wind chills will be. I can't wait until spring!

  19. Nope, it's cold...a high of -6F today and a blizzard. Ahhh well...I have my joys...a cup of tea and a shortbread cookie. One day at a time will surely get us through, Beth! What prevents you from being a snowbird?

If I lived near you I'd be over to shovel you out. : )
Since moving here and having snow I realized how much I really do like it. : )
