It is…

61 days till spring and we are under a winter weather advisory for 3 – 5 inches of snow beginning mid morning.  It was very cold this morning when I got up at 6 degrees with a wind chill of 10 below zero.  It has warmed up to 19 degrees with a pretty nippy wind.

The apple pie turned out good.  I  had a piece of it with peppermint ice cream.  I also made homemade vegetable beef soup and that was good too.  I will have some of that for my lunch today with some toasted garlic bread.  The rest of the pie goes in the freezer or I would end up eating it all. Info for Vee.  I usually do cook for myself and only eat TV dinners in an emergency.  I have only eaten 1 TV dinner in the last few weeks.

I am about to finish the Heather Graham book and I am checking my bookshelf to see what I will read next.  If I get a chance to get out to Wal*Mart I will see if Emilie Richards has anything new out.  It is cheaper to buy books at Wal*Mart than Amazon but I really like the books delivered to my door.  I am ashamed to say that I have never become involved with the library here as it is downtown and there are those awful one way streets to contend with.  I practically lived at the library at home and had an online account with them.  Maybe I will make that something for my bucket list.  Master the one way streets downtown.  And maybe I will take a space ship to the moon.

I noticed that the workers are out in the cold this morning still working on putting a new roof on the apartment building.around the corner from me  I feel sorry for them and I hope they are getting overtime for working on Saturday.

I hope your weekend is a good one.   Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Wow that is way more snow than here. I think it is going south of us to Indiana which is okay with me..no shoveling. :-) Glad all your baking and cooking turned out fine.. I had have troubles lately with my stove so not sure what is up with that. I made a rice pudding in the microwave..ahh don't recommend that for sure. LOL.. Wish I lived closer to our library. At our old house I was closer and visited it all the time. Updating my laptop this morning since getting the tablet..hardly on it..shameful but the tablet does almost as much and faster. Hope you stay warm and well this weekend. Prayers for you always.. XoXo

  5. Hi Beth, I would have loved to eat a piece of apple pie with peppermint ice cream. I'll have to try it sometime. We are having another rather mild winter. No snow yet, except in the mountains and they had so little that they were over a month late opening for skiers. But I can do without snow just fine. :) I love your countdown to Spring. Very encouraging. Have a nice weekend. Bertie.

  6. Yay for all the good for you things that you do for yourself! Glad that it all turned out tasty, too. And it is good news that the construction and repair has begun. May it be a mild winter and a mild spring so that much can get accomplished.

  7. Do you like Christian books to read Beth.
I am reading one now. It is really good. About a young lady who was soon to be married and her loveone got ill and died died suddenly. There is more mystery as one reads. You cannot stop reading it.

It is a real nice book.

Then another one is a real christian novel.

It keeps you during the page. Most Christian Churches lent you lend them out.

My son-laws Mom her church lets her lend them out for 3 weeks and still she can have extra weeks.

    The tea berry strangler.

Nothing like it sounds. One murder in the whole book. A mystery. Who i s the person who did it. That type of book.

I myself think it beats the suspense then any non christian book I have read.

  8. I've been going thru a couple of books a week too. It's a good way to spend time when there is nothing else to do. The snow that you are getting isn't coming far enough north to reach us. We lucked out. It did snow every day for the past week - just enough to cover the ground each time and make you shovel.

  10. We had a high of 12 degrees today.
The soup sounds good on a cold day like this.
I am fortunate to have the library just 2 blocks away.

  12. When you mentioned TV dinner, it brought me back to my childhood. I remember having one of the Swanson dinners occasionally and we would have those TV trays and my parents and I would eat it in the living room while watching TV.

  13. It's good that the workers can work in such cold.
Your soup sounds lovely. I do like soup but after about 1 hour my stomach thinks I have had nothing :) so I don't eat much soup for that reason. (More likely my brain, I would be no good on diet )

  14. Oh Beth...it just sounds so very cold there! Everyday, I am thankful for Texas and the mild winters....now, don't ask me in the summer when it is SO hot.....love reading about your day and how you spend time doing things you enjoy! You are such a lovely soul!

  17. Great to catch up Beth, though it looks like I've missed out on a slice of tasty pie. :-) . As Shelia says, a lot of Libraries have closed in Britain, mainly due to lack of Local Council funding. when money is short, education suffers mostly it seems. Hope your Sunday is going well. hugs aplenty xPenx.
