One day closer…

at 75 days and counting down till Spring.  The weather forecast is awful with 8 or more inches of snow forecast and way below zero temps moving in tomorrow night.  I am hibernating.  The sun is shining brightly this morning and one would never imagine what is to come.

A blogging friend White Angel asked what a TV dinner was.  Well….

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_dinner

healthy choice

I usually buy Marie Callender or Stouffer TV dinners because they taste the best and are loaded with a  lot of fat, sodium and sugar.  There was no image on the net of my favorites.  Seriously,  they are very unhealthy and I try not to eat them very often.

I finished the Lisa Gardner book and I am now starting Dark Witch by Nora Roberts.

From Amazon .com

“From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love…
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends.
Ireland.
County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations—and where her destiny awaits.
Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. Not far from the luxurious castle where she is spending a week, she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer. And since family is family, they invite her into their home and their lives.
When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horsemen, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package.
Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself—and live her life as she wants, even if that means falling head over heels for Boyle. But nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive…”

So I am all set to weather the storm.  Lots of unhealthy TV dinners and plenty of real books and over 100 books loaded on my Nook.  I am hibernating!

You all Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. I love Nora Roberts. If Katie would let me read as Admiral used to do, I would have more books read by now!
About 0 or under tonight I think with a little snow.

  2. Nothing better for bad weather than a good book in a warm house! Lately I've been watching a series called: "Darker than Black". Our weather looks bad too...thank God for Netflix and books!

  7. I used to read a lot of Nora Roberts, then got away from her and hung up on a couple of other authors. I think it's time I go back to her again. Stay warm Beth - we'll be hibernating too. The snow is missing us tho - it's all staying to the south of us, but the cold will hit us.

  10. Let me know when you finish this book, if you would recommend it. I usually like Nora Roberts, and have wondered about this for my Kindle. Books sure do make life a bit fuller when you become one of the older types, I find. I look forward to times I can just read. Enjoy your hibernation and stay warm and safe, Beth. Bertie

  11. Have you heard about all the free Beth Moore books available at Amazon? are Kindle downloads compatible with Nooks? Not sure about that one. I sure know a lot of folks who live on tv dinners. Glad that they are a once in a while for you. At least, they provide variety!

  12. It's not cold here by Illinois standards, but for us, it's cold. I keep my heat on during the day and set it at 68. Normally, it's on 66. When Willy Dunne Wooters comes over I turn it up to 70 because he's gone native and swears he will die of pneumonia when it's below 80 degrees. He grew up in West Virginia and he's such a wuss! I used to live in the same area as Nora Roberts. I've never read her books. She's not a very nice person, but most of the time it doesn't matter if you don't like an author as a human being. You care about what the person creates. An exception to that is Tobias Wolff. I was supposed to interview him for a newspaper and he decided to go swimming instead. I will never read anything of his again.

    Love,
Janie, who is kind of rambling today

  13. Right now I'm buried deeply into Narrows Gate by Jim Fusilli. I find it historically interesting but with necessary violence descriptions for the times. Reading is a part of my life style as I see it is yours. keep on keeping warm.

  14. I love Nora Roberts but haven't read one of her books for a long time. I never eat TV dinners but some times will eat Stoffer's lasagna. Yesterday I made a beef stew int he crock pot and today I baked a chicken so I am all set to hibernate for a few days. Stay warm!

  16. Beth- Is Dark Witch the first of the trilogy then? I love anything set in Ireland. I suppose you have read all of Maeve Binchy's books, too? Also-did you ever read Catherine Cookson's books? I think I have just about her whole collection.

Cold here but getting colder tonight. School is already closed for upcoming Monday..with a HIGH of MINUS 15 predicted for us. ugh- xo Diana

  17. Love your book review! It's a good thing you have plenty of reading material. It seems like ridiculously cold temperatures are coming quickly. Hibernation sounds very appealing! xo Nellie

  19. You inspire me to read. Even GA is expecting single digit temps by the first of the week.
We have a few of the MC and S frozen meals for emergencies too. The sodium content is high, but we do occasionally eat them and they are tasty.

  21. We got more snow, and the temperture is supposed to be 18 below 0, with wind chills up to 45 below zero. I want to hibernate and read, too.

  22. Yes I get that the best tasting tv dinners are the ones with the most fat, sugar, and salt but hell who wants to eat something that doesn't taste nice.
