Yippee!!

the countdown to Spring is on a downward trend.  It is 65 days now till spring.

I know a lot of you like the snow and the winter weather.  Me, not so much.  I like to look at the snow and I feel all warm and fuzzy when I am safe inside and a blizzard is blowing outside.  A good book to read and something fattening to eat and I am in HOG HEAVEN for 2 or 3 days.  Then reality sets in and I start to realize that I am stuck indoors for an indeterminate period.  Winter weather started here right after the tornado on November 17th and we have had bouts of bitter cold temperatures and mega amounts of snow.  We have a winter weather mixture predicted for this afternoon.

  2. I think the reason I love snow so much is that we don't get enough of it here in KY :)

  3. Raining here but we know we just have to stick it out until the sun shines again. I use the term 'hog heaven' often but didn't know when it was first used. My dad used to say it when he finished a difficult project.

  7. Beth Marie, you KEEP calling that spring to us. It has to get here eventually...right? lol Went out to the chickens and it was cold and raining big drops. That seems to have passed now and the sun is finally coming out. Hoping we don't get much in the way of that prediction--I've about had enough cold and snow. (BTW--we still have snow. Even though it was 50 + degrees yesterday!!)

  12. Hi Beth, it's still snowing here with bouts of rain mixed in. Not very pleasant. Most snow we've had in a very long time. Can't wait till spring.

  14. I heard my grandparents use this phrase. Also 'happy as a dead pig in the sunshine"! Looking forward to spring and sitting on the porch!

  15. You have me chuckling at the word study for "hog heaven!" Any sign of snow puts me in "hibernation mode." Soup-making time! We have had blue skies here with high temps in the mid-fifties today. How do we have a chance of snow on the ground tomorrow!?! I may join you in your countdown to spring! xo Nellie

  17. Can't stand snow and we're in the middle of an 8'inch one now. White out conditions, high winds - not fit to go out in and downright hazardous. I love that phrase "hog haven" but haven't used it or heard it in a few years. I'm happy you mentioned it and I'll put it to the forefront of expressions to use.

  18. It was a rainy day here, but the sun came out at the very end of the day so it could set again!!

I'd rather have snow than rain.: )

  19. Hi Beth, I like your countdown to spring and I can't wait. I am tired of having to dress in layers and wear my winter boots. We have had sunshine and some warmer weather, but now the temperature is dropping. The North wind was really strong, but a lot of the snow has melted. I still like to hibernate at times without going out. Have a great day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  22. I wonder what led to the initial use of hog heaven. I often say I'm happy as a pig in the mud.

  23. 65 days sounds doable. :) Spring is my favorite time of the year when all of the beautiful flowers and trees become new and happy. I love color too. But maybe we like it better because we have endured winter. My grandmother always loved Fall best, because of the colors. I like it but prefer Spring. Winter can be pretty and I agree a few days with no need to go out is very sweet. Well enjoy it all and make the best of it. Most of all, stay healthy because that makes all the difference in our attitudes, doesn't it? It is now only about 3 hours from 64 days to Spring. Bertie

  24. Keep warm. The days to spring are deceasing for you. That's interesting about Hog Heaven, never heard of it, but then that is understandable.
Hog for us is noun, meaning a domesticated pig. There are a few more meanings.

Thank you for the card Beth and I am looking forward to the cook book. I still haven't made it to the post office, but soon.
