5 Below but…

who cares??  It is only 45 days till Spring.  I am just home from having lab done at the local hospital.  My daughter was kind enough to take me.  Then we went to Bob Evans for breakfast and stopped by  Food Depot on the way home for milk and Prairie Farms Cherry Vanilla ice cream and caramel topping!  Now I think I will bake a cake to eat with it.

Tomorrow and Wednesday we are under a winter storm watch for 6 –8 inches of snow and several inches more Tuesday night until Wednesday noon.  The roads are terrible here in town as the salt they put on the roads doesn’t work at the below zero temps.  I don’t care as I have become immune to the snow and the below zero temperatures.  I figure it will even out in a month or two and by May we will be getting some 90 degree days.  By then the snow will have all melted from my car and I won’t have to clean it off again.

I called and changed my  doctor  appointment Wednesday till February 26th.  I am hoping the weather will have moderated some by then.  Last week I changed my hair appointment to the 11th and my hair is looking so awful that I will have to make that appointment if I have to crawl.

I finished my Lisa Jackson book yesterday.  I read 512 pages in just over 2 days.  Now I have to hunt for something else to read.  I may have to resort to the over 100 books I have stored on my Nook.  I really do prefer a real book even though I have a cover for my Nook and it is easy to hold.

I hope this week is a really good one for us all.  If you happen to encounter an older person that needs help with snow removal, please stop and help them.  You will get your rewards in heaven.  My mom always used to say that and I do believe that it is true.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. I'll be so happy when the warmer weather comes. All Dr. appointments done here until the end of the year, I hope. My hair is so bad I'm ready to take the scissors to it myself.

  3. I'm sure your hair doesn't look bad.:) Bob Evans is always a treat. Now that ice cream looks really yummy! And you're going to bake a cake?? yum!!
Well, we never need to help anyone with snow here in Orlando, but we do hold doors open and my son has been known to carry things for elderly people and even run and grab an item that they had forgotten but were already in line to pay.:) Your Mom was one smart woman.:)
    happy day to you,
    Marie

  4. Wow I like cherry vanilla too.. ours here is called All American Cherry.. though.. love it and marshino cherries are my fav. I don't eat much ice cream in winter at all. I baked some cake in the micro..just a small thing.. took one minute.. ONE!.. tasted great. More snow coming I am so tired of it and yes cold too. Hope the week goes well for us all. Prayers always, XoXo

  5. Our weather mirrors yours, I'm very tired of it. Inches of snow and below zero temps do very little for me. Still spring is out there and coming closer.

  6. Postponing doc appts is a great idea in this kind of weather. Hair appts...any appts. We're supposed to get three major snow events this week. Ai yi yi. Might just as well go with it.

Thank you for reminding me that you make Baked Steak. I knew that I had seen it somewhere, thought it was at Mildred's and then wound up g00gling it. Ah well. It was good and for that, I thank you for a new recipe. John probably most especially thanks you!

  14. Of course, when it snows it means snow ice-cream. As much as I like that, I will be happy to buy my ice-cream at the store.

  15. Beth, Glad your daughter helped you out today. Bless her heart. I do not blame you for changing your appointment. I am hoping soon we will start to have some temps that do not mean snow or wind. Blessings dear friend, xoxo,Susie

  17. I went to town and on the way. Took some pictures. Our friends were waiting for us at this little Coffee place outside of the town coming in. There is more of the town but took this today. We also had to drive in another area. So I took a picture of a hawk. It took small you could see sort of. I got new camera but had to get a memory card in town and grocery shop after. . Nice of your daughter to do that. Oh I am not allowed any ice cream with my Free Gluten diet Specialist has me on for life. Not one cheat. I can have sherbet but I dislike that. Yuks and no coffee . Good for you yummier. .

  20. Nice of your daughter to take you.
Makes us feel better after being to the hairdresser. I have long hair which I wear up, and get a bit cut off the ends occasionally.
    Keep warm.

  24. Oh Beth, I'm so sorry another snowstorm is going to dump on you, but I'm so happy it's just missing us. Unless it changes course, we'll just get a few flurries. I feel for you Beth. I know how fed up we all are with winter and all that comes with it in the Midwest.

  27. Nice post. It's interesting to see how friends and family are faring in the very unusual weather of this year. I've been out of town for two days as my husbands train hobby group was dis playing their little Z scale trains at a show in a nearby town to raise money for 4H clubs. The computer we had with us was impossible to use so I missed out from Friday to Sunday evening on everyone's posts. I hope all of your tests turn out good, Beth. Bertie

  30. Growing up my dad would always buy ice cream with bits of fruit in it, cherry vanilla was his favorite. My siblings and I didn't care for the chunks of fruit and swore he knew it and purposely bought it so he could enjoy it for himself! LOL!! Thanks for the great memory.
