We are having a doozy of a weather system move through here today. We are under a flood watch and a High Wind Warning in effect from 3 pm this afternoon to 3 am CST Friday. My sis in WV called me this morning to tell me that I was bright red on the weather map this morning. She asked me if I knew we were under a tornado watch too. I said no, no, no, no!! So far as I know there has been no tornado watch or warning issued for central Illinois for today, just severe thunderstorms and the flood and high wind warnings I mentioned. I am not geared up for another tornado as I haven’t recovered from the last one.
Anyway it is only 27 days till spring.

I am helping my blogging friend in Madrid with some of our unusual phrases. Mari, I hope you have a doozy of a day, on the good side of course.
The inspectors came yesterday and they took pictures of the crack all along my wall under the kitchen window. I caught them at the door and asked them to wipe their feet. LOL It was really kind of funny to see the looks on their faces. But they did wipe their feet and thanked me nicely when they left!
My son in law and daughter came over last night and I finally got my car backed out. Thanks Mike and Marcia.
Tomorrow I am going grocery shopping if the Good Lord is willing and the creeks don’t rise. I can shut my eyes and hear my dad saying that. My mom said it a lot too and so do I.
I hope your day is sunny and bright. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Just be glad you're not "up the creek without a paddle"...HA! Stay safe and on high ground.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the creek doesn't rise anywhere. We had enough of that a few years ago, and the tornado can stay away too. Our cable co. servicemen bring things to put over their shoes whenever they have to come to the house. I think all workers should.
ReplyDeleteThe cable guys do that here too. You are right, all workers should!
DeleteI have heard that phrase a lot too, especially with a s word taking the place of the. LOL
ReplyDeleteStay safe Sis.. I am hearing thunder this morning. Talk about wild.Hope the crack can be fixed . :-) prayers always to you. XoXo
ReplyDeleteI've heard my daughter call my trousers "high-water pants" because many are above my ankles. Our service people always bring shoe covers before entering homes! ALL of them do! Glad to hear your car can now take you shopping! We expect severe weather down here tomorrow. Warnings are already out.
ReplyDeletestay safe! we've got horrendous winds here in ne tx, too since last night.
ReplyDeleteHave I told you lately that I loves you, Twin?
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Love you too!
DeleteOh, and hookworms high water pants are flood pants here. :-)))
ReplyDeleteoohhh Beth what a winter you have been having!! I hope you weather this storm once again!! And YaY for foot wiping!!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, I look forward to spring as I know you do. Stay safe and smile through it all if you can, not always easy. Hugs Nita
ReplyDeleteOh heavens! No wonder you were saying "no, no, no!" Accckkk! Gosh, the days just keep rolling away...
ReplyDeleteStay safe. I hate it when workmen just track dirt through the house!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get out and about. What a long winter for you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Hi Beth, You will probably get some of the doozy weather that we have had today. The snow is really coming down after the thunderstorm with rain, hail, thunder, and lightening. Just what we wanted, I rescheduled my doctor appointment. Hopefully the weather will cooperate better. I just know the temperature is continually to drop. Have a wonderful day and stay safe. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeletePraying for your safety during this latest weather, Beth. I'm glad you asked those guys to wipe their feet. No need in them causing you extra work.
ReplyDeleteI saw that on the weather this morning, I do hope that you don't get any tornadoes like you did last year. I hope you get all of your groceries bought today. Keep Safe Beth.
ReplyDeleteOur air conditioner man wipes his feet on our Persian rugs! He steps right over the doormat. :((( Want to hear how he scratched our vintage kitchen farmhouse table with his metal binder? Maybe this topic could be a blogpost. Keep safe and warm. We have Spring already down here in southwest Louisiana. Linda @Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteBe safe out there today . . ."THEY" say it is coming our way!
ReplyDeleteWell I won't mention the weather because I just whined about it a couple of minutes ago on your previous blog. It hasn't radically changed in the last 3 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, tornado's scare me. We don't get them very often. Seen a few hurricanes through.
Oh- it is horrible here, too, Beth. I am so sorry that you have had such a long winter of it, Beth. I hope you are able to get out for groceries tomorrow. NO MORE TORNADOES are allowed at your place!!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeth, It's 4:30 and you could slice the fog, that's how thick it is. I don't know if the neighbor boy is home from school. We had thunder around 5 this morning, then rain on and off, now this scary fog. I always feel closed in with fog...scares me. I pray people drive with a lick of sense...to be safe out there. I am hoping and praying we do not have bad weather. Be safe, I always think of you and Tete when the weather is nasty...it seems we all share the same weather. Blessings to you Beth,. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Beth. Spring is coming. Bertie
ReplyDeleteWe were without power most all night long. It finally came back on at 5:15 this morning. We've had heavy rain, thunder and lightning all day too. Now we have dense fog along with the rain. The super winds are starting now too. Can't believe we're supposed to have 55 mph winds. I had to wade through knee deep water to get out my front door and to my car this morning. Be safe!
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you this evening. They are heading our way tonight. Take care and be safe.
ReplyDeleteDoozy - A good word. : )
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone will be okay! We just had a crazy ice storm in South Carolina.
ReplyDeleteWe are having the same weather up here, Beth. The wind is sort of scary. I'm glad we had the trees trimmed last summer. Take care!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Weather seems bad most everywhere again. Our shop flooded and flooded more. It's very windy. My folks said that too. Also "How high's the water momma?" A Johnny Cash song.Have a good peaceful night Beth.
ReplyDeleteThe storms should be just about out of your area by the time I am reading this....hope you didn't have any damage again!!! I also use that saying....quite often.
ReplyDeleteHope you are safe there.
ReplyDeleteCan you order your groceries online and then they deliver them? (Especially in the weather you describe). I prefer to get my own as I enjoy grocery shopping.
This is a truly crazy winter. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteNo! No tornadoes!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you caught them at the door and made them wipe their feet!!! That's marvelous!
Have fun getting out and about. :)
