The weatherman lied…

again!!  Maybe I shouldn’t say lied but the 1 – 2 inches of snow forecast for yesterday turned out to be 5 inches.  This on top of what we have and our snow cover on the ground is well over a foot.  More snow predicted for this afternoon and tonight.  Right now the sun is shining and it is 3 below zero.  I sure am waiting for the warmer days promised beginning on Tuesday.  But aha Mr. Weatherman, I am not holding my breath.  The countdown till Spring stands at 33 days.  I do know that spring will be here some day, I just feel it in my heart.  I haven’t seen a bird of any kind for weeks now.  I do see the squirrels though.  I am feeling sorry for them as their acorns are buried under a foot of snow.

I did nothing yesterday!  I didn’t even read a book.  I need to get on Amazon or out to Wal*Mart and purchase some new books.

The maintenance crew has been here checking to see if there was any more tornado damage in our houses.  I have a pretty good crack in the wall underneath my window which runs the whole length above the sink and around.  It has always been cracked a tiny bit and me being a happy homemaker had dabbed spackling in the cracks.  Now the cracks have widened since I did that in 2010.  Gosh!!!  I can’t believe I have lived here 4 years in April.  My memories of my own washer and dryer, water softener and 2 car garage are fading quickly from my mind.  Now my mind is filled with thoughts of my car that again looks like a giant snowball.  I will go out and clean that off again when the temp warms up a bit.

I have a roast with carrots, potatoes and onion in the oven now.  That will last me a few days.  I am trying to keep from baking goodies as there is no one here but me to eat them and my freezer is full.

Have a peaceful weekend!  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. If you only had a garage, everything would be ever so much better. Then we could wish a washer and dryer of your own... We're in a snowy pattern here as well...it's falling again. Ackkk...

  3. Beth, We got more snow than predicted also. But thankfully the sun is out today. Hoping it is just slowly melting some of this. I am really tired of winter, tired of seeing and complaining about it...my sister says "what else is there to do, when we can't get out much?" LOL. Hope we get to get out soon Beth. I know what you mean about missing some things. I miss my laundry being on the same floor. I am thankful for our garage...but hate that it's one big door, instead of two doors......less room. I really want to move back to town also. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  4. Weather man lies: the worst :( I hope it warms for you soon. Like you said spring is getting closer no matter what. We've been spending time watching the Olympics. I may try to walk tomorrow...after the mess left after our snow and cold it may be an Olympic event in and of itself.

  5. Being cooped up and having no books to read is a real bummer! I hope no more snow comes your way...it seems that you guys have had more than your share of that annoying white stuff! stay warm.

  6. I seldom bake because I will eat everything I bake. When I go out to a restaurant that has baked good, I buy one cookie or one piece of cake. That way I have something yummy and I don't overdo it.

    Love,
    Janie

  8. I can't believe the snow you have had this year, Beth. It is just crazy weather all across the USA!
I was going to make a pot roast but decided to make beef stew instead. It is in the crock pot and simmering away. We will eat some and give some to my son that lives alone now. xo Diana

  10. Hi Beth, Your dinner is one of my favorites! So sorry about the snow and you having to clean the car yet again. Hope you get some good books to read. What type books do you prefer?

  11. Sorry about the snow. It seems like the weather is never a sure thing any more. We were to get eight inches, ended up getting fourteen on Thursday.
Please be careful with cleaning up the car.
Enjoy that dinner now. Stay safe and war.

  14. Beth, I'm only about an hour north of you, but we have well over 3-4 feet of snow on the ground and it's coming down again right now. I'm lucky to have bird feeders outside my windows and am enjoying all the birds that come to feed. Not enjoying the squirrels that like to empty my feeders though. Stay warm and be careful when you go out!

  15. Your roast sounds delicious, Beth. I'm not sure if you have a reader ... as in Nook or Kindle, since I look at Amazon often and then order my books on my Nook. These book are at bargain prices on my Nook. Either way, I wish you all the best in finding your next good read!

    XO,
    Jane

I would miss my garage if I didn't have one.

  18. Yeah weathermen and women often get it wrong but it is better than it use to be but still I think the best way to tell what the weather is, is to walk outside and see for yourself
