A beautiful day….

in the heart of central Illinois.  The sun is shining brightly at 40 degrees.  The temperature is expected to climb into the mid 50s today.  It is 4 days on the countdown till spring.  It is a great day to be alive!  And aren’t you glad we both are?

I am having a problem getting used to DST.  I am going to bed earlier but sleeping later.  I just don’t want to get up for some reason.

I have changed the bedding and I was fortunate no one was in the laundry room so I have the bedding in the dryer right now.

Yesterday I ran several errands and even bought another lotto ticket.  I only buy one ticket because that is all it takes.  It pains me to report that I didn’t have one number.  I just donated $1 to the state of Illinois.  I am not sure what the lottery money is used for???

I am splurging today and I am having a ribeye steak, baked potato and green beans.  I rarely eat red meat, usually only chicken and fish.  And speaking of chicken, I ate on the rotisserie chicken from Costo all week.  I finished it up yesterday with creamed chicken on Grands big old fluffy, fat laden, calorie heavy  biscuits.  Those things are delicious but one biscuit has enough calories to take care of one whole meal.

I think I might bake something today too just for the fun of it.

I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.  I will keep you all updated on my brother and when the surgery will be.  That will be decided on Tuesday when he has an appointment with the surgeon.  Thank you all for your prayers.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Good for you getting to the laundry room before it got busy. Your plans for steak make me hungry. It is always a treat to have steak/potato. Continued prayers for you and yours. Have a nice Saturday.

  2. Happy Saturday, Beth! Yes! It is a wonderful day to be alive! My husband and I have been to a Lions Club pancake breakfast already this morning! While I am not a huge fan of pancakes, I did eat one.

I love the sound of your creamed chicken on that biscuit! You are right about the calories, though, and I need to stay as far away from those things as possible.:-)

Thinking about you and your family, Beth. Sending thoughts and prayers for all!

  3. I have loved your countdown to Spring. I think it is here already down here in southwest Louisiana. We are going over to The Netherlands on Tuesday. They should be having Spring there, too. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  6. It's great to see that number dwindle down. I can remember when it was 74 or something like that. Your dinner sounds great...red meat is good once in a while. DST allows us to catch up on sleep, I think, because we are going to bed earlier and sleeping longer, too. It won't last, but I'll enjoy it while it does.

  7. Nice to hear you sounding so happy. It's nice weather here too but very windy.
It's been hard for me to get up in the morning too and I've been walking just a bit later than usual.

  8. I'm having difficulty getting up, too, but that's nothing new for me. I have always tended to keep odd hours.

    Love,

  10. Warmer days and sun shining strongly make everyone feel better! Now you teased me into wanting a big juicy red steak! We hardly ever have it. Positive wishes for your brother's health issue.

  12. Beth, Glad you are having better weather. Don't you love fresh bedding? We eat a lot of chicken here. I have told Ted he only loves me because I know a 100 ways to fix chicken..LOL...well not really, I don't. We eat plenty of pork also. Blessings to you sweet Beth for a glorious Sunday.xoxo,Susie

  13. Prayers will continue for your brother until he's all better. I've been sleeping later too. I think it's because it's still dark outside, and if it's dark, it must be time to sleep! Right! Once that sun starts coming up earlier every day, I'll be getting up earlier.
