“Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt” And it was 8 AM and Daylight Savings Time had just begun and my day was starting an hour earlier or later, whichever way you choose to view DST. I just wish that they would leave the time one way or the other.
I made the banana bread yesterday and it is delicious. No chocolate chips and I didn’t even put nuts in it this time. Below is a picture of the scene that Jim was watching in July 2006.
If you want to click on this pic to make it larger you can see more clearly the postman across the street. We had a post office box but the mail in our neighborhood was delivered about 9 AM each day. You could set your clock by it. Across the street on the corner lives one of my best friends Jo. I sure do miss her. The young man driving the equipment is the son of one of the city leaders. One nice thing about living in a small town is that the sons and daughters of the biggies in the town don’t ever have to worry about a summer job or a lifetime job if they want it, I think it might be called nepotism but perhaps I am growing a bit cynical in my old age.

The time is growing short on the countdown till Spring. It is only 10 more days! It a beautiful sunny day here to reach the 40s. Tomorrow in the mid 50s! Hooray!

ReplyDeleteYikes..hope you get to feeling better. Take care of yourself..you are dear to us all. XOXO Prayers always..
ReplyDeleteI am OK Sis! Just quoting words from that old song, Sunday Morning Coming Down.
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Beth! I hope you also have a wonderful, peaceful and warm Sunday. I can imagine the aroma of that delicious banana bread!
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of bittersweet seeing those old pictures, isn't it? There are some that I can't look at without having a pang in my heart...many of them, actually.
ReplyDeleteLove that old song and haven't heard it in a few years. They were something, weren't they?
Have a blessed Sunday, Beth. xo Diana
Hope you get to feeling better Beth. I bet you're super excited that spring is just a few days away now :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for visiting us! It's great to find new people to follow. :)
ReplyDeletePs: we are now following you as well.
get weather news and i dislike nepotism ;)
ReplyDeleteTen days! Woot! Things are coming right along. Sounds as if you're pondering today.
ReplyDeleteBeth, Are you feeling you lost an hour of rest? My mom used get all upset about the time changes. She would leave some clocks on the old time...I told her that doesn't help.LOL I like looking at summer photos to see the green grass and shade. I know what you mean about nepotism....we have it everywhere. That is usually why I only vote once for anyone running for office. LOL. Hope you are having sunshine...it's wonderful here...nippy but pretty. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHope in 10 days when spring arrives that it really does and isn't just a date on the calendar. : )
ReplyDeleteI often find it difficult to look at past homes/neighborhoods. I guess the memories are bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are finally warming up.
Hope your Sunday afternoon is a good one.
Wish I could stop in for a slice of banana bread and conversation.
you make me smile every time I come here, count own is on!!!
ReplyDeleteNepotism! I don't believe it!
ReplyDeleteAren't we thankful for the sunshine. Will make your head feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your head ache is better. Day light savings time gives a lot of us a head ache. You blog helps a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, It is so springlike here today, it has been lovely, I hope it lasts!! Have a good week. Hugs Nita.
ReplyDeleteNice post, Beth. So happy about your good medical report. Prayers do get answered. God bless. Bertie
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're warming up.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I know I'm slacking Beth, in my visits to Blogger land, but I didn't realise how many of your posts I'd missed, I've just been scrolling down and checking them out. I love seeing your home photo's, especially the red flowering vine... For us, our personal photo's are imbued with the love and laughter shared whilst living there. People make a home...which is why it felt so empty for me going back to my home town, everyone close to me had moved and only the memories were left... and now I sound maudlin, didn't mean to be. :-) The suns shining brightly here, and I've just fed our birds ... so I shall go start my day... much love to you and yours. xPenx
ReplyDeleteI hope your headache is much better today. Suppose to get in the 50's today, then more cold later in the week. Spring is teasing us but that's okay. A slow thaw helps against flooding that we all don't want.
ReplyDeleteOh, the green leaves on the trees sure look nice! I do not like the change over of time either. Keep on counting!
ReplyDeleteWe call it a job for the boys :)
ReplyDeleteNow that postman is 'walking', nothing odd in that for you back then, but our 'postmen' ride a small motorbike to each letter box.
I love this song, both versions of it. They play it often on Willie's Roadhouse (Sirius radio). Yay Spring!
ReplyDeleteSpring what a wonderful word yah! xx
ReplyDeleteYes! I wish they'd abolish DST! So annoying!!
ReplyDeleteIt does suck when our heads hurt so much that simply moving it causes pain
ReplyDeleteLOL we have places like that too, only family gets the job :)
ReplyDeleteThe Banana Bread with out nuts sounds like my kind of meal :)
