A beautiful day…

here in central Illinois.  It is 45 degrees and is to climb to 60 degrees.  Watch out folks, we are scheduled for a string of above 70 degree weather for the coming week!   Be still my beating heart!

I was up early this morning and out the door to head over to the Kroger store.  I want to make some of that delicious pasta salad this weekend that I was raving about a couple of weeks ago.  This time I bought a red and yellow pepper to use in place of the green pepper.  I also found some fresh green beans that looked half way decent.  I will fix them tomorrow with bacon, onion and new red potatoes.  I also have to have some corn bread with that.

I cleaned out one of the hall way closets yesterday and have come to the conclusion that I am a pack rat.  Does anyone else out there save everything??  Anyway, save no more is my new motto.  Some more stuff for goodwill and a couple of bags of stuff for the garbage can.  And now I can get in the closet without everything tumbling out on my head.  I still have the big closet in the hallway to clean out and that will be all of the closets cleaned for this year.  A round of applause for me??  LOL

I have been reading everything in sight on my bookshelf.  Time to look for new reading material.  I will be glad when the Genealogical Society has their annual garage sale in May.  They have tables and tables of books, 10 cents for paperbacks and 25 cents for hardbacks.  A really good selection and I am so looking forward to that!

Have a blessed Holy weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  3. That string of spring days sounds delightful. When you finish with them, just send them east. You know, I faithfully clean the same things over and over and then proceed to fill them up again with stuff. Sigh.

  4. Hey, Beth, I see we're both members of the Fibber McGhee & Molly Club! Oh lordy yes, I have the worst time getting rid of things. As I am dropping something into a "get rid of it" bag, that little voice booms, "WAIT! Suppose you neeeeed it later? Suppose it comes back into style? I mean it's only 40 yrs old now!" Mother McCree, save us all.

And now to add to my guilt, I want that pasta salad! Blogging is so darn dangerous ;)

  5. I am a pack rat with my crafts but in my case. I can use scraps to work with as designs but hubby said next time we ever move he will get a dumpster first.

So I need not say know more.

Blessed Easter coming Beth for you.

  6. I need to clean out a whole host of things Beth, so much baggage collected over the years, Hmm, I wonder if there're any antiques hidden away? Hah!! No such luck I bet ... :-) Last time I tried to get rid of an ornament it seemed to find just the perfect spot, mayhap it didn't want to leave... Have a great Easter, warmest of hugs from me,.. xPenx

  7. Beth, I thought I had a bad habit of "collecting".....went to a rummage sale down the road, it was at a fellow's house that I used to work with. His pole barn (huge) had little trails to walk through....I almost cried. The boy is a hoarder....cause he doesn't seem to sell as much as he brings home. I hope you never see me on that Hoarder Show. LOL We are having warmer weather also. xoxo, Susie

  8. I am so glad that you guys are having a good day. We had little bit frost this morning but it is nice and sunny now.
I used to save a lot of things, not any more.

  9. YAY - hopefully we are both safe now from another snowstorm. There was one yesterday into last night that missed us by 60 miles. I'm so thankful it stayed away. I am somewhat of a pack rat, but do clean stuff out when I'm in the mood.

  11. It is beautiful here further up north, too, Beth! I love it and I'm happy to hear it's going to get even better! It's a good feeling to clear out the stuff we hang on to...sometimes we just need some time to pass before we realize we just don't need it. I have an office and den with tons of books that have to go. That really is heavy work...books, books and more books!

    Happy Easter!

    XO,
    Jane

  12. I'm so not a pack rat. If I don't use it, I give it away, throw it away or sell. it. As much as I like junk, I get tired of the clutter from time to time and do something with it. I hear someone say if you haven't used it or worn it in a year, get rid of it. But then I think later, "Why did I do that?" So, I can understand why the need to be a pack rat. Happy Easter, dear friend.

  13. Well, of course we must keep it! We may need it again someday!:-) I struggle with that "school teacher mentality" about many things, but am improving - ever so slightly.:-) If you feel a need to clear out anything else, I will pay your expenses to make a trip here.:-) xo Nellie

  15. I had to come back to add one tiny thing that jumped back into my head with your words about books and Susie's about rummage sales.
About 15 yrs ago, I cleaned out hundreds upon hundreds of books and took them to a neighbor that was having a yard sale. Moving forward, 10 years went by and I went to another neighborhood's yard sale and saw this great book I wanted to read. Bought it, brought it home, .....saw my name written on the inside cover. Gawd. Does that prove what goes around comes around?

  16. You won't know what to do when you walk outside and your car isn't covered in snow! I'm not a pack rat. I've moved so many times that it was impossible to hang on to much.

    Janie

  17. Pack rat? Hubby has this saying "I could sell it on ebay!" Oye.
I cleared and cleaned my kitchen cupboards today. I don't know why I have 4 boxes of baking soda and three bottles of vanilla. I forget I had already got whatever and buy another while I'm there. Don't want to waste a trip you know.
    I am proud of you....bravo!!

  23. Happy for you for both weather and the good feeling that comes with getting a project done. We too are trying to purge or downsize, what ever you want to call it. It is very hard for us who lived during the depression in the 1930's when we saved everything because we might need it later. lol. Oh well, relax now through Easter. Bertie

  24. Seems like a bargain for the books.
It's pleasing you have finished your cleaning of cupboards except for one.

  25. I'm not a pack rat, but understand " too much stuff". We inherited too much stuff when Bill's mom passed away. We ended up giving away a lot that we just couldn't use.

  29. Funny that we have a closet here and we call it the "Fibber" - after the Fibber McGee radio show. Actually, the closet was named by my Dad because he put stuff in there that he didn't know where else to store it. We cleaned out the closet when we moved in here and now it is stuffed again! The Fibber is full!
