It is a lovely morning in Central Illinois. It is 68 degrees to climb to 83 degrees. Tomorrow is to be even warmer.
My daughter and I ate at the Olive Garden yesterday. We had lasagna and some of that wonderful soup that has dumplings in it. I can never remember the name of it. As an appetizer we had stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were a big disappointment to me. They were half of a button type mushroom and the filling was cheesy with bits of something that was hard to chew. The price was $10 for 6.
The last time I had stuffed mushrooms was when I was with my sister in Huntington WV. We were there to see a George Jones/Tammy Wynette concert. Back to the mushrooms that time in Huntington. They were huge. The Olive Garden is nothing like your real Italian restaurants in the Boston area Paul but it is passable.
The Olive Garden does have some gorgeous flowers planted in urns on the porch.
I am resting today! Tomorrow I will tackle some cleaning.
Have a safe happy Memorial Day. Don’t forget to thank our veterans, those here now and those who have defended our great country in previous wars and conflicts.
Beth
Well the flowers gives smiles even if the tang mushrooms were a rip off.
ReplyDeleteHave a relaxed Sunday Beth.
Seems you are going to have a wonderful day weather wise.
ReplyDeleteI like the flowers, nice to see at a restaurant.
I ask my Grandson Jordon where he would like to go for a bite to eat and hands down he will say, Olive Garden. He orders the same thing every time, Chicken Scampi, no peppers and onions . . . along with salad which he eats, (I think) two bowls full . . . There is no filling up a 15 year old!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Beth . . . Thank you for helping us remember what this weekend is all about . . .
Mushrooms can be a mixed bag can't they? Well, it sounds like mostly went well and the weather sounds great!
ReplyDeletebeautiful blooms. your temps are very similar to what we've had in texas the past few days. 70s at night. high 80s during the day. and humid! hoping for rains!
ReplyDeleteI always end up disappointed when I eat at Olive Garden. They seem to be just slightly off from being good...their salad and breadsticks are yummy, though!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers, Beth.
ReplyDeleteI love their salad and breadsticks.
ReplyDeleteYou know sometimes I like their mushrooms and sometimes I don't - I guess it depends on the chef. Beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love Olive Garden's salad. Haven't been in a while, so I'm putting it on my mental to do list. It's been a gorgeous day here, too. I don't think it made 83, though. I've cleaned the majority of the day, so I can play all day tomorrow before I'm back to work on Tuesday. The flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think the soup is Chicken Gnocchi Soup and it is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers sure are pretty.
Beth, Glad you had a nice time with your daughter. It is very up setting to have to pay for bad food. That was a pricy little dish. Hope you enjoyed resting today. Good wishes for tomorrow, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! So glad you had a nice lunch at Olive Garden with your daughter. Sounds like your weather is nice for this long weekend. have a good one!
ReplyDeleteJoining with you in thanking our veterans, including my late grandfather who gave his life in WWII.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty flowers at the restaurant. We ate at O'Charley's today.
We moved Wed., our old house went on the market Thursday and sold for full price yesterday! Praise the Lord.
We are tired/sore but happy.
We have never had a good meal at the Olive Garden and we have been there 3 times in the last 10 years. I think they are all different somehow! Yes, Memorial Day is not firecrackers and trivial pursuits. it is a serious tribute to all of our vets and not too many people really know its meaning.
ReplyDeleteooohhh Beth, you should have called me before you went ;)
ReplyDeleteThere mushrooms have clams in them and they are always as you described, terrible!! i think you had the chicken knoki (sp) soup, I like their zuppa Toscana soup, not sure how to spell that either!!
We always get soup, salad and breadsticks, it's unlimited and it always fills my belly!!
I do like stuffed mushrooms but not if they have things hard to chew in them. Maybe the soup you had was Tortellini soup.
ReplyDeleteRest, read, and enjoy happy memories, Beth. Cleaning will wait until Tuesday. (big grin) Bertie.
ReplyDeleteYour weather sounds wonderful. Sounds like you had a great time, except the shrooms. I am picky when it comes to shrooms.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Beth:
ReplyDeleteIts wonderful you had some quality time with your daughter.
Nice flowers.
stay blessed.
have a fantastic week.
Please don't overdo with the cleaning.
It looks like we had a short Spring and are quickly slipping into Summer, now. Enjoy the holiday!
ReplyDeleteI love Olive Garden! Haven';t eaten there for almost a year. I love their Chicken & Shrimp Carbonara. It's amazing. As far as stuffed mushrooms, Red Lobster has the best. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd pass on the stuffed mushrooms, but I do like Olive Garden. :)
I haven't eaten at the Garden in years..the last time I did it was terribly unpleasant the next day..I know I know it's just one incident but if asked now I don't even THINK about eating in one. I think my fav is now Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans. Hope your day went well and all your tomorrows. Prayers always for you ..XOXO
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, we are having another warm autumn day
ReplyDeleteOlive Garden is OK for a chain. We don't eat there often. Restaurants to have nice flowers, don't they!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers in the Olive Garden are really pretty Beth..I love stuffed mushrooms , sorry they were a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear the weather is warming up.
