Answers….

Asked by many blogging friends: “What is behind the stone fence at the Port of Ashland?”
There is a boat dock behind there.  If you noticed the bridge in the distance, it is the bridge that connects the state of Kentucky with the state of Ohio.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Port-of-Ashland/155255737817988  I imagine that Keith in Kentucky could explain it better than me.  Definitely my WV sister could as it is not far from her house.

The nice lady that I met yesterday at the Crap 4 Sale is not on Blogger or Wordpress.  She has her own independent blogging address.  I gave her my blog address and I hope if she is reading this she will get in touch with me.  I didn’t buy anything at the sale because it was mostly baby and children’s things.

Do any of you ever feel sorry for yourself and envy those around you who may have more material possessions than you?  I have to confess that on more than one occasion I have indulged in a bit of self pity.  I had a lesson yesterday in humility.  I met a lovely lady at a garage sale yesterday and we chatted for awhile.  For me that is one of the fun things about garage sales, meeting and talking to new people.  I commented on what a lot of stuff that she had and she told me that a lot of it was donated by friends.  She said that within the past year she had 3 brain surgeries and owed over $100,000 in hospital bills. She then proceeded to tell me about it.  I listened because I know personally how much it means for someone to stop and take the time to listen to you.  I told her that I had fought a battle last year too and thank God we were both here to talk about it.

  1. I never feel sorry for myself or envy anyone..it's my nature not to.
That was lovely you talked to the lady, and we don't know the other persons story unless we stop and listen :)

  3. We never know what's behind all the glamour. My son-in-laws uncle had a massive heart attack and died last week. They live in a manion and she wears the finest clothes and jewelry and looks like they are in abundance. He didn't have life insurance, the have no equity in the house because of refinancing and lived on credit cards because he had been unemployed for a few years. So you just don't know.

  4. Good Saturday morning, Beth. One never knows what battles someone else may be having to fight. So often we may wish we were able to have things like others do, but definitely not the problems that may come with that! I am thankful each morning for the opportunity to face another day and the blessings that surround me! xo Nellie

  5. Beth, You are so right. People need to vent or feel that other really care. I met a lady at my sister's sale and she was talking about my having to go on dialysis. I told her to take care of herself and that I would pray she would be fine. It seemed to cheer her. But I did let her talk about it. We are all blessed in ways . You are blessed with a good heart. We all love you, xoxo,Susie

  6. You never know what is behind faces . I have learned that. when I was young. I
am not really envy of anyone . I joke about it many times though. We all here on earth for a reason. You never know who you rub shoulders with or know about them behind closed doors be a rich lady may look rich but she may as you say have gone through tough life. So having material things to her from others becomes a blessing. It is tough times everywhere now.

Nice you had each other to talk with. I had a friend who said to me once when I was in my 20's. You never know what to-morrow brings and you never know what materialist things can be taken away from you. Be happy what you have but don't make them your first priority. Make The Lord first. how true is that. I have loss many of dear friends to God. They were young and such blessing to me and others. Even small children.
I have loss a dear first blogger who had cancer when I came on computer at 60. Her name was Ginger. Her and I hit it off well. She mailed me a dvd and I play it to this day. Ginger died and I was so heart broken. I learned something else. Never hold onto one friend so tight. Be friends with everyone . As the Lord gives and he takes. Every Friend I held on to it seemed . God took them away or they got cancer. I was left alone and heartbroken. I enjoyed your blog Beth and story and picture.

  7. Good morning Beth, God is there with us every step of the way. I never thought we would celebrate our 50th anniversary last year but we did. I take the time to listen to those around us because you may be the only one who does. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri friend

  8. The end of your blog really hit home with me today. I certainly have felt sorry for myself only to hear someone else not only going through more difficult times than I but having a better attitude too. Those lessons may be painful but I'm eternally grateful for them. Bless you my friend.

  14. You just never know what others are going through. I think that it is why we should be very careful before we say things about people that are unkind.

  15. I hope she sold everything. However you made her world a little brighter by letting her talk.

  20. Oh Beth I forgot to tell you another reason behind those stone fences - they double as a flood wall since they lie on the Ohio River. Maysville, KY has one as well.
