The story behind….

the 55 MPH pictures.  My daughter was laughing at me as I was taking so many pics while she was driving.  I actually took 73 pictures.  A few of those were taken in town and of the rest of the photos, only a few of the over 60 photos taken on the highway were decent.  I would sight what I wanted to take a picture of and start shooting until I was all of the way past  the object.  Sorting through  I would pick the photo that actually had the object (like the old house) in the best position for me to center and crop it.  It was a lot of fun.  I am not familiar with the countryside here for me to head out and take pictures.  Jim and I used to ride in the country and he would stop to  let me take pics of whatever I wanted.

This is an example of  one of the bad ones taken out the front window of the car.  The best ones were taken out of the side window of the car.

I am sure the few good shots I got were just luck.  I have a Canon 14 MP point and shoot that I got from Amazon for a little over $300  with birthday gift cards a couple of years ago.

Have a great day!  Stay safe and be happy!

Beth

  1. Yes the best photos are definitely taken out of the side window while in a car. I have enjoyed taking sunset and sunrise pictures on the road (not while driving).

  2. This made me laugh Beth! I have done the same thing. There were so many beautiful areas to take picture of in Maine and my sweet husband would always look for a place when I yelled..."STOP! I need a picture!" Love it Miss Beth!

  3. You photos whilst travelling turned out alright. Not always easy to do especially if the windows are not clean.

  4. Sometimes many pictures need to be taken before the ones you like come out and greet you. I enjoyed what you've shared in this series.

  5. I do the same Beth. I had done 130 pictures two weeks ago. Try and do it between your hubby driving across to another field. I did and I was amazed as how they turned out.

Of course i chopped around hubby to get the picture but it was good.

My hubby says just for me to keep clicking none stop. I was amazed. Hey my oldest son does photography also and he does weddings and so forth so he has to keep clicking, clicking.

Your picture I like girly. I am sure you can find with a program to crop and size of the rest you took you will be surprised. Try it. Mine were dark also as when we traveled it was not sunny. Oh well at-least we don't have frost or snow right.

I went out this morning and took pictures around my place and down the lane. So I need to load up and see what I managed to get while the mosquitoes were out.

Thumbs up Beth. Sorry I am late coming in to blah, too much comment on your page.

    Hugs Carol Ann.

  7. It is a challenge to take photos while the car is moving! I've tried!:-) I think you've done a good job. My camera is a Canon PowerShot, and I know I don't utilize all the features it has. I just haven't taken time to study it appropriately. xo Nellie

  12. Hi, this is my first visit here; I saw your comment on a friend's chalkboard post today. I am following you via bloglovin.com and read your answers in your earlier post so now I know a bit about you. I am retirement age too.

  13. Something about the angle of the glass in the front window really messes with shots...sometimes I can save them by trying different things and sometimes not.

We used to get out and wonder around and not really have a clue as to where we were...we just knew we would eventually run into a road we knew.

  14. Great shots! It is hard to get good shots through the windshield. Dashboards and mirrors get in the way, plus there's the reflection off the glass. Someone should invent a camera that mounts to the outside of our cars for all those great shots!

  15. That is a fun way to take pictures. Sometimes you get a nice surprise to see you captured something you didn't even know until you see the picture.

  16. I think that picture looks great. I tried taking pictures in a moving car once, I didn't get one decent shot lol. You have better skills than me my friend. Thanks for visiting!

  18. Glad you had fun shooting from a moving vehicle and were able to get some nice shots. I hardly ever get to do that as I am usually the one driving.

  19. Thats the fun of digital you can take tons of photos and pick the best one. I don't get all my good one from one shot. There will sometime be 10 then I pick the best one. Even though I have to admit my first one is usally my best one. Often when I start changing settings and thinking about it they seem to not be as good as the first. I love taking photos from the car. Best one I love is when out the side of the window and can get the close area blurred by and the faraway in focus. I have a series I call in my files called On the Road all taken from the car. You have taken some beautiful photos over the years. Just admiring your lilacs.. Mine arn't even out yet. Just budding. At least I finally have almost everything planted only a few flowers left. Something has been eating so many of my sidlings and many of my little marigolds I just planted. I forget about those little creaters every year that devour so much at the beginning. Anyway today took the day off to visit still wont' be blogging much just giving my brain a rest from it. Have a wonderful rest of week. Hugs Carrie

  22. That's actually a good picture when you consider it was taken thru a car window as the car was moving. I love the cameras now days - they are still easy to use, but do such a better job than years past. Thanks for visiting Mario's blog. We've really been missing a lot lately.

  23. My hubby always asks me why do you take so many pictures of the same thing. Because out of those 20 only 1 usually catches my eye! And my windshield is never that clean! lol,,,

  28. It is hard to take "drive bys". I know. It is a timing issue. Shooting from Bill's big rig is extra difficult as the side mirror takes up half of the side window. I have to shoot around it. He can't stop, slow down, or help either. I just do what I can.
