Monday again…

and I am up an at ‘em basking in the warm glow of my furnace set at 70 degrees.  The end of the week is to be warmer here, warming up to 80 degrees.  Off with the furnace and on with the fan.
Now to get caught up with the weekend.  I went to the Texas Roadhouse in East Peoria Friday night with my daughter and son in law.  They have the best homemade rolls there that are served with honey butter.  Yummmmm!  The kids had steaks and I had chicken with enough to bring home to eat on Saturday as I was making the pies.
New crisis here at my place.  The stool in the bathroom is leaking a small amount around the base on the floor.  When I called maintenance this morning they hurried and sent someone over.  It will probably be flooded in  there when he gets done as it is the same guy who has been working on my back door for over 2 weeks.  Which isn’t nearly finished yet.
Boston Boy asked if I had taken the picture at the top of my blog.  Yes, the picture was taken at my old home in the fall last year.  I always called them painted daisies although that is just the common name for them.  Carole has published a photo of this flower on her flickr page that is awesome!!  She can also tell us the proper name for them.  I do miss my flowers at home as I had lots of perennials that came up every year.  I do have photos of them all so I can look at then in a slide show and it is almost as good.
Well, the kid (22 years old) has left my bathroom with a promise to come back this afternoon and finish the back door.  I just took a look in the bathroom.  No water on the floor now, he said he tightened some bolts.  As for coming back this afternoon to finish the door, I will not be holding my breath as that is detrimental to ones health.
Now to put all of those negative thoughts behind me and focus on the positive.  That is the only way to deal with life, along with a daily talk with The Man Upstairs.  Remember that old song with that title sung by Kay Starr?  I do remember it and if I was posting this to spaces I could post it for you all to hear.  I haven’t figured out how to get music on blog spot yet.  If any of you know please be kind and pass that knowledge along.
Thank you to the ones, especially Lady Jude, who gave me tips on how to make my blah wordpress recipe blog look better.  I really appreciate all of you and I think we will get through this blog moving stuff and end up with our blog family still strong.  I do like my blog spot a LOT better than the  wordpress ones though.
OK time to go as I see my daughter coming to the door.
Have a good week and above all be happy.
Beth

  3. Those flowers are purty! I need to plant more perennials here. I think of the theme song of 'Movin on up' when we talk of the blog family movin over to here ;-)
Water around toilet is not good. Hope the tightening works. Usually needs a new wax ring. Hope the back door gets finished before the snow flies. Did I say s _ _w? Sorry!

  4. hi there Beth,
the flowers are giving a fantastic display, wonderful and colourful.
Fingers crossed here for you, that you've seen the end of the leaking, and that you'll see the repairs finished good and proper.
I'm finding my way about Wordpress, and rate it almost as high as Blogger. I'll have to keep trying both and maybe just keep updating them together. Hope you've had a great time with your Daughter. happy rest of the week to you...xPenx

  5. Glad he's got you fixed with one problem anyway. Fingers crossed that he comes back and takes care of the door. Haven't moved to wordpress yet but am here and learning as I go. Nice to see others here also. Painted daises is a good name for the flowers. Like it.

  6. Those are pretty flowers and goes great with your theme in here. It doesn't surprise me that they were right over to fix the leaky potty, leaking water can cause a whole lot of damage if left alone. Now just to get your door fixed and you'll be good to go. It probably isn't a good idea to hold your breath tho lol.
Well have a good day with your daughter!
    Hugs

  7. So glad 'The Kid" got to your toilet quickly. Now if only he comesw back this afternoon fpr that door.

Raining here in 'Sunny' California and chilly but it's a nice change for us. We get to eat cold weather foods! As for that Hamburger Soup, it's really easy and so good. Simply brown 1lb of ground beef or turkey in a dutch oven and add chopped onion, celery, carrots, potatoes any size you want and add enough V8 juice and water to cover. Bring to a boil and simmer on low for an hour or so. You can also add any other veggies that you like. It's great as a leftover too! I will post the exact recipe on my blogger later today.

I too prefer blogger and it seems as if almost all of the Spaces people have an account there. You site looks very nice! Take care and have a wonderful week.

  9. Well, I'll be. I never knew they were called Painted Daisies!! And thank you for that sweet compliment. I have to admit I kind of like my rendition of them myself. :-) I worked for those pictures.
Yup. You need a new wax ring and if he didn't put one down, he needs to.

I am going to stick with Blogger no matter what. I hie enough stay here to have someone to visit now and then.

  11. I've never heard it referred to as a stool. I'll say no more.
I'm with Carole. I'm here at Blogger to stay.
Are those oranges in the background picture?
    What's your favorite color?
Ok too many questions. It's been a very long day.

  12. Just stopping by to say hello Beth. Yep, it is that time of year when you don't know what to wear half the time, so layering it is, and our furnace kicked in the last couple of nights also but it hasn't been hot enough for a fan, and the A/C's are tucked away for another year.
Hope you got that door fixed. Your photo of the painted daisies is beautiful and so is Caroles.
Well you have a good night and great rest of the week.
    Hugs, Dianne :)

  13. Great picture! Hope you get that door done soon---it may take a kick in the butt to get him moving! Hang in there and enjoy the upcoming warmer weather. Fall IS upon us. The leaves are falling but not turning colors too much yet. A cold snap will change that. Enjoy the day!

  15. Texas Roadhouse huh? Besides having good food, it's really a fun place to go. Glad you had a good time.

Hmmm, too bad the maintenance man isn't doing a very good job. I know it's hard to do, but you have to keep on them until they get it done right. Some may call it being bitchy, but it's all part of your rent payments. Hope he gets the repair done before it floods.

  16. Oops and I meant to answer your question about the grouse. Jim thought it was at least a pound. It was an adult bird, not some little one. We've had plenty of small birds hit the windows, but this was the first and hopefully the last time to have one break. Don't know how much the window will cost to be repaired. :(
