As I promised myself…

in addition to cooking the turkey on Friday I did manage to get the cleaning done.  I also put out the Christmas decorations, what few I do put out.  Number one on the list being the fiber optic angels that Jim was so fond of.  Then my other Christmas tree, three Christmas music boxes and finally the clock that plays a Christmas tune on the hour.  I really like that.  I think I will buy a small wreath for my front door as I see there is a place there to hang one.

Yesterday, I took dinner over to my daughter’s house.  Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cake and cranberry relish.  I wrapped everything in newspaper and I managed to get it all there hot.  Of course the mashed potatoes were Kroger’s and the gravy belonged to Heinz and was packaged in a jar.  It was all very good and I left all leftovers and half of my baking dishes over there so that they could have a meal today without cooking.

It is foggy out this morning and the temp is to rise to the upper 60s with a sharp cold front coming through on Wednesday.  If my SIL is up to it we will go to his brother’s house for a meal on Thanksgiving.  Jim and I went with them once and there is always lots of food and people so that should be fun.

I need to finish this off as I have to leave in a few minutes.  I hope you all have a great day.

Red heart  Beth

  1. I like to get the Christmas things done earlier these days then I used to. Back in the day I hated to see it before Thanksgiving was done...we ever rush from one holiday to the next and sometimes I like to savor the one we're actually having LOL! Just a note here to say God bless you today Beth!

  2. You're getting in a festive mood too. I've been thinking of putting out my tiny Christmas tree. I've got room now in the living room for a bigger one, but I think Kassey might enjoy it too much.

  3. I can't bring myself to start the Christmas season until Thanksgiving is gone. It drives me crazy to see Christmas stuff too early (around Halloween) in the stores. Somehow, it cheapens the holidays to force people to spend more money earlier. True, I pick up a thing or two during the year and save it for Christmas for folks, but that's different. Enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends.

  4. You had to say Christmas ornaments, didn't you, Beth LOL There are a BUNCH of stores here that even over a week ago had all the decorations AND music going for Christmas. It surprised me so much that I thought, "Holy smoke, did I miss Thanksgiving?" Seriously! I thought dementia was creeping in. Now I do start looking around and buying little things in July and on for my little Christmas bags that I take around my neighborhood, but even when I do that, I have the worst time figuring out where I put all that stuff. THIS year I was smart (depending how you look at it). I have this giant cardboard moving box filled with all of those things so that I can pack the bags a lot faster. Uh oh, I forgot to buy the bags. CRIPES!

  6. Thanksgiving is the best holiday. Christmas could be better if it was toned down a little but that ain't gonna happen!
I am ready for the Thanksgiving meal right now! Pass the gravy please!

  7. Thanksgiving will be here this year (we alternate with kids in-laws) and am getting excited to see everyone at once. Love the get-togethers. Haven't even thought about Christmas decorations yet.

  8. Your gravy recipe is the same one I use. LOL I couldn't believe the radio station I listen to in Madison has already gone to it's 24/7 Christmas music format. Over a week before Thanksgiving! Way too early IMO.

  12. Hi Beth,

Had to come by and say Hi and thanks for your visit and encouragement. I will be fine in a day or so probably, just a few complications to sort out - It is good that Kerrie has been in touch, we must all just pray for each other, know you find things difficult sometimes too. take care, Hugs Nita

  13. Beth your Thankgiving dinner sounds wonderful. and now I am hungry! I will settle for a turkey sandwich, with cranberries, and a little dressing on top. Yum!!! We folks in Canada celebrate Thanksgiving in October.
I have started to decorate for Christmas also, and I love all the Christmas music, just wish it wasn't so commercialized, but then Christmas is what we make it. Jesus is the reason for the season and that is where the real Joy is found.
Glad to hear you are having a wonderful time with family. Happy Thanksgiving Beth.
    Hugs, Dianne :)
