Wednesday, rant day..

and there is good reason to rant  and make mention of the fact that because the young mother of two small boys has no insurance she is being released from the hospital today, far too early for the many injuries she suffered.  Remember, Angel, is a young friend of my sister Rae.  Angel was injured in an automobile accident last week on her way to work at Mainstream.  She is a struggling single mother, trying to make ends meet.  Her closest family is a sister who is trying to take care of Angel’s boys while she is recuperating.  She suffered many broken bones and lacerations; all from an accident that will most likely be traced back to the car she was driving.  My sister is trying desperately to help her by making many phone calls on her behalf.  This is all thwarted by the fact that Angel is no relation to my sis so because of the privacy act she (Rae) has hit a bunch of brick walls.  Please do continue to remember Angel in your prayers as this young lady has a long hard row in front of her.

Yesterday morning I had a dental appointment to get my teeth cleaned.  Now that is one thing I hate with a passion, all of the poking and prodding around on my teeth.  My mouth is always sore for several days afterward.  What is the alternative?  Yep, you said it, so I will continue to go every 6 months and get my teeth cleaned as much as I hate it.

It is a lovely day today, up close to 70 again.  The colder, more seasonal weather, is due back this weekend.  The weeks fly by so fast, it will soon be spring again.

My son in law is having surgery on his knee next Monday morning.  This kind of puts a damper on Thanksgiving activities so I probably will get a small turkey and fix the works here that day.  It seems so hard to gather family around for holidays anymore and this makes me sad.  There definitely will be no going to the boat for the buffet  on Thanksgiving as it appears my son will be unable to come that day.  Now I am shooting for Christmas.  Winking smile

I should get started on some house cleaning.  Sad smile  I hope you all are having a good day.

Red heart  Beth

  1. It just makes my eye tear up for Angel. Hoping and praying this get much better fast.

I dread the thought of not being able to get together on holidays. Our family takes turns with the in-laws every year for Thanksgiving but we get Christmas Eve and they get Christmas Day. It works out so well for all the families.

  2. Hello Beth
How sad for Angel and her family. Over here we are so lucky with our National Health Service, we moan about it, but at least we do not end up having to be sent home just because we have no insurance. I will carry on sending her healing thoughts.
I hope your son-in-laws op goes ok, and you have a great Thanksgiving Day.
    Take care, Marjie x

  3. This news would make me rant, too, Beth. That is utterly and totally unfair. Makes you wonder what ever happened to the Hippocratic Oath. Angel will recoup but it will take longer than if she was under some good care, but what I hope for her is this: If it's all traced back to a malfunction of her car, I hope she sues and wins multimillions in damages. In the meantime, I will certainly keep her and kids and her sister, AND Rae in my prayers.
And Beth, keep those dental appts, lol xoxoxo

  4. It's stories like Angel's and personal experience that makes me wonder what the Republicans think they're doing vowing to repeal health care reform. Sometimes I think they're talking about a different country than the one I live in.

  5. It is very sad about the insurance situation in this country. It's so wrong that she will be denied proper care because of no insurance.

My dental hygienist uses water jets to clean teeth now. Much better than all that scraping.

    Enjoy your day.

  8. Tough times for Angel and I'm sure sorry to hear it. I know that there are many obstacles with the Privacy Act...dealt with that in times past when I needed things done while I was living abroad. Sorry about the holidays being so lonely my friend. I am glad to be home with family for the holidays myself but then my kids are still living at home so where else would they be? May your Christmas shine bright this year!

  12. Angel will make it through with friends like your sis helping her! We are all relying on our friends to help us through this financial/economic crisis that grips our nation. But we still must keep a positive attitude and help anyone else we can. Hope your son's surgery goes well and he's up and moving about by Thanksgiving. I've been through knee replacement surgery, so I know that the more you move your knee and work it, the faster you heal! Hope your Thanksgiving is fun anyway and that you can still be with your family on that day.

  13. That poor girl. It's a shame in this country that insurance company's have more say over your health then you do. And now it will probably get much worse again.

I'm looking forward to the holidays. Love it when we all get together.

    Have a great Friday Beth

  14. These are sad times indeed. It's so unfortunate that she has to be released because she has no insurance. Health insurance is the one thing I worry about when I retire.
Getting my teeth cleaned doesn't bother me, having a looney dentist tell me me I need to pull out all my lower teeth because I might eventually lose the all anyway is what scares me. I told him seeya! I think he was more interested in extracting money from me than my teeth.
