Hooray…

It is 39 degrees and the snow is melting.  Water standing in the streets where the snow was never plowed.  One reason the water is standing is because maintenance never raked up the leaves from the big oak trees and the sewers are clogged.  Warm up tomorrow into the 50s should get rid of a lot more of the snow.

I have been reading several blogs that listed their New Years resolutions.  I rarely make a New Year resolution because I most probably won’t keep it.  For some silly reason that makes me feel guilty.  Why I feel guilty I don’t know.  However I do have a few resolutions that I am going to try to keep in 2011.

  1. I am asking God to help me to be a kinder, gentler person.

  2. Conquer the one way streets downtown.

  3. Eat healthier without Marie Callender looking over my shoulder.

  4. Take my foot out of my mouth.

  5. Quit procrastinating, just get up and do it.

Whew, five resolutions is enough.  I wore myself out just typing them.  Do you have any New Year resolutions to share.

Well, I intend to carry out resolution 5 right now and get up and go clean the dreaded bathroom.

You all stay safe and be happy!!

Red heart  Beth

  2. The resolution I made last year, I didn't keep, but I'll try to keep it this year:
Get my new manuscript published or set to publish myself.

I know that doesn't sound like much, but it really IS. Have a happy New Year and enjoy your thaw---it probably won't be the last of the snow this year.

  3. I'm going to learn how to make a half decent video -- ha, never happen, but I'll try. I'm also going to force myself to get dressed every day and climb the dreaded stairs without moaning about my knees. See what a complainer I can be? Maybe I should add "stop complaining" to the list, too. I'm not saying anymore because it makes me think too much.
Now yours? Tell me how you could be more kind, Beth. And was Marie looking over your shoulder when you posted all those yummy holiday recipes? My bet is she was relegated to the closet with blinders on. YOU stayed all nice and trim while I was hooked into the madness of your goodies ;)
...but did I ever love it! I think you've done great with downtown driving. At least you keep trying. I never do it anymore; it's like driving into hell and knowing you'll never make it out alive. My gosh, my grandmother used to say that. Good lord, I'm my grandmother now.
    XOXOXO

  7. I seldom make resolutions either, frankly I think that life should always be something that we are trying to improve...that's something that's a lifelong work and it's never done in a day. I envy your melt off. It's been snowing since last night and broke a record set in 1973...4.1 inches last night...just when it was clearing up pretty nicely...ah well.

  8. I don't usually make resolutions but your 5 sounds so good I may try and use them too. It's melting here too and though it's nice I dread the fast drop in degrees tomorrow night. Wishing you a great new year.

  9. G'day Beth, I like your list of new year resolutions. I don't make new year resolutions, but your blog got me wondering how the tradition started. Have a great day! With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

  10. We're slowly getting your weather Beth.
My new year resolution is similar to yours Beth.
I have resolved to clean the dreaded bathroom in the soon to be new year. I always say it should be cleaned once a year whether it needs it or not. And I am quite firm on that!

  11. I know many people that do and many people that don't make resolutions. I normally do not. But this year... just for giggles, I thought that I would. This year, I am going to try my hardest to teach and get my youngest son to pick up after himself without reminders so my house tends to stay a little cleaner without my constant help, which will also save me a trip to the ER possibly. It will be good for him... plus stepping on those small lego pieces in the dark of the night is PAINFUL!!!!
