OH MY!!

this has been a morning and a half where I have had my patience sorely tried.  Perseverance won out though and I was able to keep my cool.  To begin with I woke up at 5 AM so I just got up.  So far, so good.  Then after meds, 1/2 hour workout, 1 load of laundry I decided to make the lemon cream cheese bars which my son specifically requested.  These are his favorites and I have made them dozens of  times.  Caution, do not use fat free  cream cheese, the topping was FLAT!

Then I head off to Krogers to finish grocery shopping and to pick up some more cream cheese.  The left turn signal in my car was working fine on the way to the store.  On the way home, oh no, that fast clicking which my son in law told me meant the bulb was burned out.  My daughter was kind enough to go with me to get it fixed, first trying Firestone who was backed up all day with work and then on out to the Buick dealer.  This little light bulb cost me $26.90 to replace.

Then on home where I proceeded to make those cream cheese bars again.  They turned out perfect this time.  Winking smile  Reminds me of the time several years ago when I was making potato soup and I went to shake some pepper in the pan and the lid came off and all of that pepper went in the soup.  Jim and the kids loved this.  My daughter said “Mom, I thought you never made a mistake when you are cooking.”   I told her that of course I made lots of mistakes while cooking, I just never told anyone.

Now I am worn out and I still have quite a few things I need to get done before the day is done.  You all stay safe and be happy!

Red heart  Beth

  1. I am so sorry that so much has happened to you today but glad you withstood the pressure. I did have to chuckle at the pepper lid falling off at the wrong time ;-/

  2. Days like that are so frustrating. I'm glad the Lemon bars came out great in the end. Those car dealers sure have racket. The darn thing probably didn't take them more that 10 min. My big cooking mistake was trying to make spagetti sauce with a bad cold. Kept adding garlic as I couldn't taste it. Needless to say the hunters weren't impressed. LOL No deer that year.

  3. Hi Beth,
The pepper story rings a bell, think that happened to someone in my family. Sorry you too are having a frustrating time of it. Prayer and Trust and more Prayer and Trust seems to be the only answer - Take care, Hugs Nita.

  5. Your post is very funny and so true that it is a human error I bet everybody had experience..
I made mistake by used a sugar for a salt that was
the apple pie for dessert after roast chicken LOL!

After that I don't remember that such a huge mistake.

Low fat cream or no cholesterol oil are no good
for results, I used no cholesterol oil to make nice crispy prawn cutlet in end up soggy cutlet.

    Big Hugs.

  6. Hey, Beth! I just read back a good 4 entries to keep up and glad I did :D. I had to laugh when you kidded me about the word "cuting" and how you thought I'd made up a new word, lol. Gotta love typos, right? Then, I was looking at your Nook and it's great (great cover you got for it, too). My neighbor, Cheryl, just got one yesterday and we were looking at it today. I told her there were a couple of sites with free books she could dl as well as the ones she'd buy. Then I drew a blank and couldn't think of the site names. Jog my memory so I can tell her. Next was the Brown Sugar Fruit Drops. Should I hug you or shoot you. Just kidding. They sound WAY too good and I can see I'm going to be busy with your recipes yet again this year. Oh gee, thanks a lot, lol. Now the hummingbird that showed up out your way, wow. Someone must have taught him the words wrong because he was singing, "I left my hearttttt, in Illinoissss". Poor little thing, hope he lives to sing a beach tune. That festival of lights was amazing! When I first saw the train, I thought it was a drawing! Incredible lights for sure. Thanks for sharing that; I'd never see it otherwise.
And so now, here we are at the homemade Chex and homemade fudge -- I'm dead. Nothing better and I can actually FEEL that fudge melting in my mouth. You're such a devil. All I did was read back 4 entries and now look at me...up 10 lbs.
    XOXOXO

  7. My day began when Frankie woke me up at 0430 to investigate the hissing noise in the bathroom. After nearly freezing my fingers to the metal access door to the crawl space (it was a balmy 3 degrees) I found the burst pipe and shut the water off. The day went downhill from there but we now have water again and I have my "bad day" meds. As my old basic training TI always said, some days you eat the bear and some days the bear eats you.

  8. I had to pay all that for a stupid door lock (trunk) and like Great Granny says, they have a racket going. We're at their mercy. Oh, and I did the pepper thing too. Nothing like that horrible gasp you make when the lid and the shaker full hit surface and it all goodbye to the dish you were making.
Lemon bars are to die for. LOVE those things.

  10. Good on you! I'm so proud of you Beth, with all that tested your patience for the day you were still able to keep your cool, go home and then make another batch of lemon cheese bars. The price is outrageous for an indicator light, but if we look on the bright side, it is better to fork out a bit more for safety and peace of mind. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

  11. Blessings....
whoa its festive in here. 5 am in the morning? Why on earth would you be up at that ungodly hour unless you had to go to work?

Car troubles...hmmmm, be thankful it was simply the light and not something else that would cost you and arm and a leg to have repaired/replaced.

    Have a great day

  13. Poor you! But on the up side, once in a while, a mistake makes it better, and we have(voila!) a new recipe! case in pint: When I was eleven, I read a hastily written recipe Mama left left me as she went next door as one tablespoon of va. I figured that va meant vinegar. So I put a tablespoonn of vinegar in the cake.I knew Mama always put some kind of flavoring in the cake, so I put in a generous amount of flavoring. I think it was rum. Anyway, the cake was so light and fluffy that to this day,we still use a bit of vinegar!
