OK, Here’s the story…

I have been listening to the weather  on the scanner and TV.  Central Illinois is to “get a storm of historical proportions, the like of which has never before been seen in central Illinois.”   Freezing rain first with up to 1/2 inch ice accumulation to be followed by snow at the rate of 3 or more inches per hour to exceed 20 or more inches.  Heavy winds has caused this storm to be listed as a blizzard.

Of course this meant another run by the store this morning to get the things I forgot yesterday.  The store was wall to wall people with the carts piled high with all kinds of stuff.  What worries me the most about this storm is that the power might go out.  That would be tragic as the temps are to fall below zero on Wednesday.

I guess you all know what all I will be doing.  I will be on a goodie making spree as that is what calms me down when I get anxious.

When I was out this morning I stopped by Bergners and bought a birthday gift for my great, great niece.  she will be 2 years old in March.  Lots of good buys at Bergners today.   I bought a darling little pink angel top and pants, $40 for $8.  Nothing for myself as I bought a jacket and 2 tops last week.

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today.  It sure isn’t here.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Beth, I saw that weather report for your area and I have to say it made me a bit nervous for you. Be careful. If you have a cell phone, make sure it's charged to the max in case you loose power. Lanterns, blankets. And most importantly: cookies.
    Gotta have cookies.
Here's hoping the blizzard misses the mark entirely and just plain dissipates.
    Love you, dear Beth ~
    XOXOXO

  2. I have heard about this storm being one of epic proportions. We had the first part pass us by leaving a bit of snow and temperatures cold enough to rival any so far this winter. It's five below zero for us right now. Stay safe my friend, sounds like this could be a biggie!

  4. Sure am not looking forward to the storm. We already have enough snow here as far as I'm concened and the thought of blizzard conditions give me the shivers.

  5. Hope you got plenty of milk and bread. The folks around here seem to think that is what you do when a storm is moving in. Don't ask me why....I find milk sammiches very difficult to consume without making a huge mess!

    Hunker down and stay warm.

  6. Beth, I always think of you and the others that are in your neck of the woods when this kind of report comes. Lets just hope they miss the mark this time.
I couldn't tell if N. AL was in the path or not.
Just take care and keep covered if the power goes off.

  7. Dear Beth, This is not good news, and I am feeling dreadfully sick with worry. I know you will be taking all the necessary precautions, but please do take good care of yourself. So much craziness happening all around the world at the moment. In Queensland, Australia, one of the worst cyclones ever, Cyclone Yasi, is to hit the state sometime tomorrow night (Wednesday) or early Thursday morning. In Japan, people are urged to flee to safer ground from the Shinmoedake volcano which erupted last week. In Egypt, violent political protests taking place and sending the country into turmoil. I am keeping all the people of the world in my prayers. God be with you and keep you. With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

  8. the news down here in Texas is full of how bad Illinois is going to get hit by this storm. They're even saying Texas will have temperatures down in the 20's here tomorrow. Hope you fair well and don't lose electricity.

  9. I love to bake when it gets snowy like that. The smells in the kitchen and house are so great when we get snowed in. Hunting someone to plow out my driveway.. I hear the men are getting booked up two to three days in advance of this storm. Hope you stay well and warm : )

  17. Don't listen to Mom. What does she know? She's only a human. We know a super aunt when we see one.

  18. The storm you are talking about will hit us on Tuesday. There's another one behind it in the southwest. I don't know if it will get to you but it will get to us on Thursday. I just watched the weather forecast and there is a chance of yet another one hitting us over the weekend. I would at the very least this is getting tedious.

  19. Yes, I think you are going to get hit worse then we will. They say we will get the blizzard but I don't think we'll get the ice like you will. Hope you have a good book on hand.
Be safe Beth and take care! I sure hope the power stays on.

  24. Hi Beth,

Wanted you to know, you continue, along with all people in affected spots, in your country to be in my prayers. It was so good to see and hear Toodie, when I logged in just now. My thoughts and prayers are also very much with Kerrie and the people of Queensland. God Bless, Love Nita.
