Show some compassion…

please!  No one was happier than I when our former governor, George Ryan was convicted of fraud  and several other charges a few years ago.  He was sentenced to 6  & 1/2 years in prison which he is serving at Terre Haute Indiana.  He has now served 3 years of his sentence.  His wife is  gravely ill with cancer and is in her final days.  Ryan’s attorney’s are fighting to have him released during the daytime hours so that he can be at her bedside.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/05/lura-lynn-ryan-in-intensi_n_805071.html     Having watched my husband die of cancer and several other family members, I can find it in my heart to allow him to be with his wife in her final days. Please show some compassion for Mrs. Ryan, he can finish out his term after her death.

I am waiting for my daughter to come and pick me up.  I am going to see my doctor this morning.  It is snowing some so I hope there are no pileups on the roads.  Update later.

UPDATE:  I am back from the doctor where I had 6 X-Rays taken of my back and hip.  I will get the results from them on Monday or Tuesday.  I also have a prescription for some pain meds which I will fill.  My BP was excellent, 112/54 and I hadn’t gained any weight.  Those two things are always good to know.  Winking smile

I am still in quite a lot of pain so I am going to visit some of you and then get off of this computer and rest for awhile.  I got hardly any sleep last night.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Hi Beth,

Yes I agree with you time for compassion. Pleased about your b.p. your lower figure is way lower than mine. Hope your results are good for your hip and back and that the pain subsides soon. I am not feeling too well at the moment either, a bit better now, than earlier, when I posted. It seems my posts are not showing on the feed at the moment, sometimes they dont show until the next day, any ideas. Hugs Nita.

  2. This is absolutely a time to show some compassion. The poor woman needs all her loved ones with her.
Great BP there lady. Now you get that rest and here's a Hug to get you through.

  3. I agree he should be able to be with his wife in her final days. Glad you went to the doctor. Rest up and let the pain meds comfort you. Snowing and cold and very windy here. God bless.

  4. Truthfully I think that if they don't figure he's a risk to run away then he should be allowed to visit his wife. No point in adding cruel and unusual to any punishment he's already enduring. I pray that you get some good reports from the doctor. Sorry about the pain and hope you quickly get beyond that too.

  5. Hi Beth, maybe you have the same problem as I do, bad arthritis in my hip. At first I could not tell if I had a back problem or a hip problem. Last Feb. they found that it was my hip, and I am still waiting for the hip replacement surgery.

  6. I had a long comment, and I did it on my iPod. It got lost while I was trying to log in to my account here. Sigh.

I hope day by day you will get exponentially better and I am so very grateful that you have Marcia near by.

I agree with you re: the man needing to be with his wife in her last days. To not allow that punishes HER..and what did she ever do to the State??

  12. Hello Beth, I read the article regarding former governor, George Ryan. A very sad story, the entire family has certainly felt the full force of the law come down on them. I pray that Mrs Ryan's dying wish to be with her husband will be granted.

So pleased you have had your X-Rays done. I can't get to have mine yet, due to the floods.

Thank goodness you have some medication now to relieve the pain. Keeping you in my prayers and trusting in God for good results.

May God protect you. With love and care from Kerrie. xOx
